"I was beaming with excitement as I stepped off the plane, eager to surprise Cole on his birthday. We'd been together since high school, and despite the distance between Boston and Australia, our love had only grown stronger. Our daily morning calls were a ritual I cherished.
As I made my way to his house, my heart raced with anticipation. I called him, and he answered on the second ring. "Hey, darling!" I said, trying to contain my excitement. But before I could even wish him a happy birthday, he cut me off, saying he was busy and would call me later.
My instincts screamed warning signs, but I pushed them aside, thinking maybe he was just stressed. That was until I walked into his house, the door creaking open without resistance. My eyes widened as I took in the scene before me - Cole, in bed with a blonde, Sam.
My world came crashing down. "How could you, Cole?!" I demanded, my voice trembling with rage and hurt. "This isn't what it looks like," he pleaded, but I wasn't having it.
"You callous cheater!" I hurled the bracelet he'd given me, the symbol of our love, straight at his face. "We're done, Cole. Finished." And with that, I turned and walked away, leaving behind the shattered remains of our relationship and my own broken heart.
