Previously published as George this book is a heartwarming story about a little girl trying to come out as trans her deadname is George and people call her he/him and a boy
A lot of people thought she was gay and really, she just was assigned the wrong gender
There's a bit of dysphoria in this book but overall, it's a ten-year-old girl coming out to her best friend, her brother, and finally her mom
The main thing that happens is Melissa wants to play Charloette in Charolette's web, but the teacher won't let her because Charolotte is a girl and melissa "isn't"
I rate this a 9.1 because it's not a perfect book and it doesn't cover any topics that aren't "suitable" for children so while this is a great book to show that trans youth exists it doesn't fully explain what they go through
Overall amazing book my heart felt for Melissa, and I would defiantly re-read
To my rule breaker friends this is a banned book (that my school librarian still let me read because she's the best ally ever) so BREAK THE RULES THE GOVERMENT CAN'T CONRTOL USSS
also, Alex Gino has plenty other LGBT youth books so I want to acquire them, and you should too

Here is Rick by Alex Gino, I haven't read it yet:
Ricks never questioned much. He's gone along with his best friend Jeff even when Jeff's acted like a bully and a jerk. He's let his father joke with him about which hot girls he might want to date even though that kind of talk always makes him uncomfortable. And he hasn't given his own identity much thought, because everyone else around him seemed to have figured it out.
But now Rick's gotten to middle school, and new doors are opening. One of them leads to the school's Rainbow Spectrum club, where kids of many genders and identities congregate, including Melissa, the girl who sits in front of Rick in class and seems to have her life together. Rick wants his own life to be that ... understood. Even if it means breaking some old friendships and making some new ones.
As they did in their groundbreaking novel George, in Rick, award-winning author Alex Gino explores what it means to search for your own place in the world ... and all the steps you and the people around you need to take in order to get where you need to be.
