Lizzie opened her eyes. Then she closed them again. She groaned and raised her hand to her aching head. "Again?" she muttered to herself. "Lizzie?" She heard someone say. "Nope, gonna go back to sleep. Hope this is all a bad dream. Wake me later." A soft chuckle had her opening one eye to see if it was who she thought it was. "Come on Moya Kroshka (my little one), open both of your eyes. Lizzie squinted trying to focus and saw Nat sitting by her bed. "Hi Natty. We got to stop meeting like this." That earned her a genuine smile from Natasha. Lizzie pushed herself up in an attempt to sit up in the bed. Nat reached and pushed the button to raise the head of the bed for her. Lizzie humphed. "Men are idiots," she grumbled.
"Hey now, not all men." Lizzie jumped at the deep voice coming from the corner of her room. Nik Fury sat staring at her, legs crossed, hands in his lap, leather coat and eye patch, as always present. She snickered as Nat finished setting her up. "Yes Patches, all of them. Testosterone makes you all stupid." Lizzie glanced at Nat as she turned her head away from Fury to hide the smile on her face. "What kind of pain killers are you on Lizzie?" Nat couldn't hide the chuckle in her voice. "Dunno but they are gone ones," Lizzie shrugged her shoulders.
Fury looked at the two women. "Patches?" He tried to sound stern. Lizzie was too high on pain meds to care. "That's Director to you Miss." He tried that deep voice on her again. She lifted her brow and giggled. She gave him a very poor salute, "Yes Sir, Director Patches, Sir" she let loose with another giggle. She'd cracked herself up.
Nat rose from the chair beside her bed. She leaned over and kissed Lizzie on the forehead. "Lizzie, hunny, maybe you should go back to sleep." Lizzie grinned at her. "Only if you tell me Director Patches found Uncle Howard's trunk for T." She looked around the room. "Where is T?" Lizzie didn't realize her voice had changed. She sounded like she was lost. Fury stood and walked over to her bed. "He was here, now we are unsure where he is."
Lizzie rubbed at her eyes. "What time is it Natty?" Fury looked at Nat with a raised brow and mouthed Natty? Lizzie was falling back to sleep while she was talking. "If its breakfast time try Randy's Donuts and make him bring me some with chocolate icing. Tell him he can keep his nasty sprinkles." Her eyes were closed by the time she finished speaking. "How many times has she hit her head?" Fury asked no one in particular. Lizzie waved them away as she rolled onto her side. Nat was laying her bed back for her. She stuck her tongue out at Fury and wrinkled her nose. "Bring Tony and Donuts," she muttered. Nat pulled her blanket over her and pushed her hair out of her face and Fury noticed.
Director Fury found Tony right where Lizzie had told him he would be. Tony now knew Nat was with S.H.I.E.L.D., but he wasn't to tell anyone. They had given him something to take the edge off the symptoms of his blood poisoning. Fury had also informed Tony that he and Lizzie were not the center of the universe. They both agreed Fury was rude. Tony cracked up when he found out Lizzie had called Fury Director Patches.
Tony had come to see her just as she was arguing with the nurses that she was leaving. "Izz, do you have to be such a pain in the ass?" Tony had asked as he walked in, with donuts mind you. She wondered if it was Natty or D.P. who had told him. She was betting it was Natty.
"I want to go home T and you love me anyway." She had reached for a donut. The nurse had frowned. "If I give you a donut, can I go home Nurse Crachet?" Lizzie asked as she held the box towards the nurse. Tony had snorted and tried to hide his grin. The nurse had huffed out, but not before she took a donut and Lizzie had winked at her. That had gained Lizzie a smile from the nurse before she got all Cratchety at the door again.
