**Y/N's POV**
I entered the castle, a professor leading me through the halls of the castle, I believe her name was McGonagall. When we reached the massive doors of the great hall, she told me to stay put and wait here until the end of the headmaster's speech. I nod and she slipped through a small crack of the door. I look inside when she goes through and see many students sitting at individual tables listening to the headmaster. A wave of nervousness comes and hits me like a ton of bricks. I keep on listening to the speech until he says "and now we should all give a warm welcome to Y/N Y/L/N!". 'Well that's my cue'. I burst through the doors with such force I made all the students jump as they turned their heads towards me. I strut to the front with fake confidence as McGonagall removes the hat from the stool as I make my way to sit down. She places the hat on my head and it starts to speak
"Ah....Y/L/N!" it shouts "A descendant of a great wizard. You have the qualities of all houses, but your kindness overlaps them all! I know exactly where to put you......HUFFLEPUFF!!" it screams. As the whole of hufflepuff erupts into cheers. I grin widely as I make my way to my newly founded spot as a hufflepuff. I sit down to a boy who looks only a couple years older than me. I smile at him and he smiles back.
"Y/N Y/L/N!" I say a little too enthusiastically whilst extending my arm for him to shake my hand.
He gladly takes it. "Cedric, Cedric Diggory." he replies with a smile.
We sat there talking and stuffing our faces with food. I can tell we were going to be good friends at this point. We continued to talk until I stood up wanting to go to my new room. Cedric stood up as well and offered to take me to the hufflepuff common room, I kindly accepted and we walked in silence for a while until he broke it. "What did the hat mean when it said ' a descendant of a great wizard'?" I knew this question would come eventually, I stayed silent pretending not to hear. "Y/N?" I still stayed silent. "Ok. Don't wanna talk about it fine by me!" he said with a hint of sarcasm and annoyance in his voice. We reach the common room and I thank him and apologized by not telling him what the hat meant. I turned on my heel and walked away heading to my new dorm.
**Nobody's POV**
You got to your dorm which was private, since that the school only wanted the best for one of the descendants of Helga Hufflepuff herself. You jumped onto your new bed for the year. You stare up to the ceiling thinking about your family and what they're doing. You feel your eyelids getting heavy and you fall into a deep, dreamless sleep.
A knock at your door makes you jolt up from your sleeping state. You get up heading to the door whilst rubbing your eyes. You open the door to see Cedric.
"Well hello Cedric! What do you need?" you say in a soft tone with a bright smile.
"Y/N, would you like to come down for dinner?" he asked "I would suspect you're pretty hungry after a long day.". You nodded your head slightly, coming out of the door and being taken down to dinner by Cedric. You entered the great hall and most heads turned as you went to your table. You hated all the eyes being on you. You started to think this was a bad idea coming to dinner, but all your worries were pushed aside as Cedric started to speak. You filled yourself to the brim with food. You told Cedric you were going back to your dorm, since you were tired. You walked out of the hall, you exited the hall and headed to your dorm. You opened the door and kicked off your shoes. You jumped onto your bed, and once your head hit the pillow you were out like a light.
