Lin drove with Karen in the front seat and Grayson and Aspen in the back seat. They were on their way to the Hudson Valley Horse Show where Grayson would be competing with Nyxan in show jumping. The family of four drove with music on, singing along to the show tunes.
Aspen, Lin's biological and Karen's adoptive daughter, had her tablet on with headphones as she didn't like the music, tending to get fussy. She'd just turned one in September and Grayson had turned 15 in November.
Karen looked back at their daughters in the back seat of the truck, the horse trailer hooked up to the back. "You two doing well back there?"
"Yes, Mom. We're doing great!" Grayson said, giving her mother a thumbs up, kissing her little sister's head. "Anyway, are we almost there? I need to pee!"
"Almost, Grayson. Almost."
