The Pumpkin Smash

[This takes place in Season 1]

"And that's Halloween!" Iris finished explaining, "Well, what do you think?" Auriana squealed "Ooh it sounds like so much fun!! Can we do it??" She shakes Iris's arm. Taila scoffed "So you're telling me that people intentionally get their kids after dark and go to strangers house? And put up weird decorations to scare people for. . .fun?"

Iris grabbed her bag "Uh, yeah?" She turned around with a sly grin "What? Are you sacred~" Taila crossed her arms "No! It's just not practical." The girls didn't believe her. "Whatever you say, as for you," She looked over to Auriana who was slightly bouncing. "Yeah! Aunt Ellen has a bunch of decorations in the storage closet, you can ask her if you can set them up!" Auriana jumped in the air "YES!"

Taila sighed "Well I think we should keep training, I highly doubt Mephisto and Praxina will let us have a day off- WOAH-" Auriana hugged her waist and gave her puppy dog eyes, tears threatening to fall. "OH PLEASE TAILA!!" She sniffed "Please. . ." The princesses of Xeris blinked. Iris had to stop herself from laughing. "Come on. What's a couple days gonna do? Destroy the world?" "Well-" Taila tried to object but Auriana hugged tighter.

She stared at her for a few seconds before sighing in defeat. "Okay. .but you two have to start training harder!" Auriana squealed and hugged her properly. "Deal!" Iris giggled "Alright deal, I have to go help Nathaniel out, he said something about his food going missing." She side eyed Amaru remembering the he gave to his pantry. Amaru avoided her gaze and whistled. She waved at them and left.

Taila left to the magical library with Amaru and Auriana was all alone. She bounced down the stairs and into the living room where Aunt Ellen was reading a magazine. She smiled once she got down "Hello Auriana! You seem particularly chipper today!" She nodded "Yeah, Iris just told me about Halloween! She said you have some decorations?" Ellen brighten "Oh yes! There in that closet over there, you can set them up if like." Auriana opened to storage close and dust attacked her.

She coughed and shook her arms "Thank you, I will!" She got out a huge box that she struggled to carry. She went out into the main hallway and set it down. She opened it and jumped back. A huge purple spider came flying out of the box! "AH!" She put her arm in front of her ready to cast a spell before realizing-

It was just a jack in the box but with a fluffy spider. Auriana put her hand on her chest and sighed in relief. "Auriana! Are you okay?" Aunt Ellen rushed in the room. She noticed the big spider and also sighed in relief. "The spider in the box got you too, huh?" Auriana chuckled and scratched her cheek. "Hehe, yeah. Scared the heck outta me." Ellen sat down next to her "Iris always put that dang thing there, and it scares me every time!"

"Iris did that? She doesn't seem like the type to pull pranks." The adult shrugged "That's how she gets you, she makes you think you're safe and then she attacks!" She pretended to be bear and raised her arms. She then laughed "Oh Iris. .would you like me to help you with the decorations?" Auriana giggled too, then agreed.

It took forty-five minutes but with the both of them (and some help from spells) they finished.

Ellen sat down exhausted as Auriana wiped her hands. Ellen sighed "Whew! That took everything out of me, I don't think I can even go to the store and get pumpkins." Auriana raised a eyebrow "Pumpkins? Why do you need Pumpkins?"

"Iris didn't tell you? We always carve pumpkins to make silly faces and we put those tiny candles that require batteries in them to make it glow." Auriana eyes widened in amazement "Wow! That reminds me of when my family would put spells on each other toys to make it look like they came to life and is coming to attack us!" Aunt Ellen blinked twice and Auriana realized she just messed up.
