I'm pacing through Diagon Alley; the high street located in London-accessible by the Wizarding world only (of course). My trainer soaks through as I misplace my foot into a deep puddle through my haste to avoid the rain which seeps into my argyle textured jumper ( I'm trying to the look the part ok?). It's my first day and appearing in a hot, sweaty and yet drenched state I'm sure isn't going to make a great first impression. Oh and now my foots squelching against the cobble stone path. Great. jusssstttt great.

Yesterday I stumbled across a BillyWig. A BillyWig, IN PERSON! So naturally I did the only thing any rational magical beast obsessed person would do. I chased after it. BillyWigs are absolutely tiny insects with a sapphire blue appearance. Most normal wizards and witches wouldn't even have noticed it. However my knowledge prevailed and I immediately recognised it. The busyness of Diagon Alley clashed with the small whizz of the BillyWig, the yelling of reunions and goodbyes converged into one background noise. But my ears are trained. After swiftly navigating through the crowds I had managed to clasp it between my hands in a minor alley nook. I made a small whole in my hands and poked my eye in. I felt myself smile, I mean who wouldn't of. Well, I had been until I heard a rush of uneven thudding footsteps come to skidding stop, I averted my eyes upwards and to my surprise I saw this tall brunette make a face of relief and a smiled appeared on his lips. His dimples brightening the spark igniting in his eyes (and honestly in my heart, I mean this man is gorgeous). "Hi" he managed to coax out; clearly out of breath "um, I see you caught my BillyWig" he's says rather awkwardly scratching the back of head and yet his smile remains. He gently approached me and asked me to open my hand. I do as I'm asked and make a slightly bigger gap in my hand without making it too big as to let it escape. He tilts down at the waist slightly to pear in and gives a half smirk.

After a brief exchanging of the BillyWig he addressed himself as Newt Schamander, a magizoologist. I then addressed myself as Y/N and rapidly explained my fascination and dreams of travelling the world, saving mythical, misunderstood creatures from the cruelties of this world.  And that was when I saw something change in his eyes, although I couldn't  place my finger on it. I explained how I'd recently turned 18 and further indulgence led to the revealing of my recent completion of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry (I was a slytherin for all wondering).

Which leads me to today. My first day as Mr Schamanders assistant and after a rather brief explanation of my skills (having studied herbology, charms, potions, care of magical creatures and alchemy) I felt up to the role (and in desperate need of a job) I rapidly accepted his offer to becoming his assistant magizoologist . Which is why I'm here standing in that same nook in the alley where we had agreed to meet (After I had hastily packed my belongings). I catch a glance at my watch and just as I do, Mr Schamander appears into my line of vision. He quickly unlocks his Leather case which he seems to have in a rather tight grip on and takes my belongings- dropping my suitcases into it. They fall with a thud into the oblivion which appears to be in Mr Schamander's case. He then quickly locks the case and gestures for me to follow him, mumbling something I can't quite hear. And so now I'm half jogging, half power walking to keep up with  him through the rain (still soaking me). Mr Schamander is much better prepared with his long navy coat and layers covering the majority of him and he's also in boots, water proof ones. I already feel like an idiot.

We reach a dock and walk up to boat. He offers the captain  (I assume) two sets of paper and as he does so his leather suit case moves, not so subtly either, like something is pushing from the inside in an attempt to get out. This catches the captains  attention to which he politely says "would you mind opening that case young man" he asks with more than a hint of scepticism. He levels his eyes with me at this point, like I might know something. I'm feeling flustered and scared that whatever Mr Schamander has in this magical case is about to be set loose. However Mr Schamander after a few moments replies with "yes, of course" in an confident tone, an easy tone. At which the case clicks and opens wide and although I can't see what's inside as the case is turned from me, whatever is in it seems to satisfy him enough to usher us through.  But not before Mr Schamander turn his head back to me to give me a small smile.

He shakes his fluffy brunette hair like a wet dog, and it's all I can do to stand back as I watch the water molecules spray everywhere, he swiftly opens his case on the ground and starts to climb down into it. "follow me" he says with some ease and enthusiasm. And so I pear down into the suitcase to...well, check this isn't some joke, I see a dim glow and a brown wooden ladder. So I gingerly plant my foot on the thirds step from the top, gently and slowing putting pressure on it, for some reason I'm not convinced this isn't going to break, but I climb down it anyway. Once I'm inside it's like a whole other world, with creatures I've never seen before flying speedily overhead, their vibrant colour flashing me and creatures I'm never seen before rushing around my feet in circles, chasing one another before scurrying off. I'm half laughing to myself in disbelief and awe. He turns around at this sound, having hung his coat and he smiles wide. He's in brown leather suspenders attached to his trousers with a white shirt with the sleeves slightly folded revealing slightly muscular forearms and his hair perfectly disheveled. In the few seconds I've been gawking; subtly (I hope). He's picked up his wand and murmurs a spell which causes wind to gust from his wand, not like usual wind though this air is warm and homely. Within a few seconds dries my clothes. I nod in a gracious thanks.

I at this point I assumed we would maybe sit and Mr Schamander would explain everything from where we are heading to sleeping arrangements. But he's walking off at a pace. It's all I can to jog to catch up while trying to take in the many different creature of different colours and sizes that I've only ever read about. Most I've never even heard of. It's a bit messy but Mr Schamander navigates his way with familiarity monitoring his surrounding; his eyes constantly darting around, all the while talking to me and explaining to me the names and the habitats he's created for them down here. It's magical. I feel at home.
