From: Season 6 Episode 7

Sara has just returned to the Waverider after being kidnapped.

Sara's pov

I'm back! I made it out alive! (With some help, of course.)

I was literally jumping with excitement the whole trip back to the Waverider. I can't wait to see Ava, to hold her in my arms, to feel safe in hers. Those lips... Oh, how I've missed her.

I barely registered Gideon greeting me as I rushed toward the corridor of our room. I came to a sudden halt when I heard sniffles. Not just anyone's.

It was Ava's.

I took a deep breath and braced myself for the worst. Then, I walked into the already-opened room.

Her back was facing me, and her beautiful hair cascaded down her back. The TV stopped at a picture of me which I recognized was taken by 'David freaking Bowie' before I was kidnapped. It was glitching. No wonder Ava was crying.

My heart clenched tightly in my chest.

"Ava?' I said gently as I didn't want to startle her.

Her head perked up.

"Is it really you?" she whispered.

"Yeah, babe. It's me" I moved closer to her. It took every ounce of control I had not to reach forward and envelop her. I didn't know what she needed so I dared not do anything but stand there. I know first-hand how uneasy and scary it is to be touched when you don't want to.

"I don't want to turn around because I'm afraid if I do, you'll disappear."

Oh man. What have I done to my girl? My heart squeezed so tightly that it actually hurt and my stomach churned at the thought that I was the one who caused her so much pain.

I moved towards her and brought my hand up to tuck her hair behind her ear like I always do before I comfort her. I did it slower than usual this time to ensure that she was okay with that. When I saw no signs of panic or distress, I placed my arm around her neck and pulled her close to me. I buried my face in her hair and inhaled Ava's unique scent. It has been too long.

"I'm not going anywhere ever again. I promise." I am never ever going to break that promise. I love her too much to do that.

"Oh my god."

Ava turned around and her red-rimmed eyes broke my heart. I wrapped my arms around her and squeezed as tightly as my body would allow - I was exhausted.

We cherished each other's warmth and presence for what felt like an eternity but was barely even a minute. I felt so complete and full. And overjoyed. Ava was in my arms. Finally. I did it! I am home.
