*Elizabeth's POV*
They died saving the country.
"How could you leave that piece out?!?!" I shouted. I was pissed that he 'forgot' to mention they were in the army. The army. And I didn't even know!
"Well, I thought you knew that they were in the army." He said, scratching his neck.
"No, I didn't know!"
"They never told you?" He asked, definitely confused as to why my beloved parents never told me.
"No, they never tell me anything, unless its like necessary in the moment." I spoke trying to process everything.
"Miss Jones, I hate to interrupt, but we have a few things that I'm sure you'd like to have and see." The general said.
"Both of your parents were brave soldiers and they never gave up without a fight." The young one spoke up.
"They were the best fighters in our army, and I would do anything to get them back." The older man spoke very fondly.
"Unfortunately, that can't happen. But we have some things that are meant for them but we are gladly giving to you." With that, the young one pulled out two army suits, two pairs of combat boots, every picture that went missing, and two obviously worn army hats.
"This was mainly everything they had brought with them." He said, handing them to me.
"Thank you." I politely spoke. He nodded.
"Now, my dear. This is a time to be proud of who your parents were. They would have gotten this themselves if they made it out alive. In my hands I have three medals. One for your mom, dad, and your brother." I knew my brother was apart of the military, but shouldn't he have gotten one when the marines came?
"I don't understand, my brother was a navy seal. Why is he getting a medal from a different military base?"
"Is your brother the boy behind you in the picture in the tree like structure?" Niall, such a creep.
"Yes, why? Who thought he was my boyfriend?" Because he's not here, everyone thinks he's my boyfriend. In all honesty, my relationship with my brother was much better than my dating relationship. Every happy moment I ever had with him flooded my vision. I remembered how his eyes would crinkle when he smiled, his almost grey eyes glistened when the sunlight hit them just right. When his smile would reach ear to ear, god how much I miss that doof.
"Um, that's not important right now." Niall's voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"Uh, miss Jones," the man said bringing my attention back to him.
"Your brother did some secret work for me, that is why he's getting a medal from me." the older man spoke, summing it all up.
"These medals are for their braveness. Your parents were the bravest soldiers I had on my base. Any general would have been grateful to have your parents. The marines were lucky to have your brother as well." the general spoke, handing me three opened velveted boxes. I thanked him politely and walked with them back to the house. Everything dawned down on me like a lab experiment that had gone wrong. My parents are gone. My brother is gone. I don't know the rest of my family. All I have left is my dog.
We arrived at my front door, sooner than I wanted. After bidding the men good bye, I went to find my dog.
"Capone, come." My handsome little Rottweiler came trotting over to me . "Lets go take a nap buddy." I whispered. I walked to my stairs, Capone following.
Arriving at my destination, I crawled in my bed, my dog resting next to me. Today's been long enough, I thought. Before I knew it I was out cold.
