It was 7:30.
Evan said he was coming to pick me up at 8:00. I was standing in a mirror looking absolutely despicable.
I really liked Evan so I wanted to look acceptable.
To get that messy chic look, I rolled my hair into buns. I shook them out to my result was pretty waves.
Decent.
Next, I started off with some concealer. Just a little so I would go out looking like I just washed up on the jersey shore. I used some BB cream to fix some of my imperfections.
After, this I just applied some light pink lip liner. I looked in the mirror one last time. I couldn't believe I was doing this.
Going on a date. As I admired my look I looked down at my scars. The way I used to cope with stress and anger and emotional pain. I stopped four months ago when my parents made me go to a rehabilitation place for the summer and I haven't done it since.
It would break my heart if Evan found out.
I placed my hands on the sink. My eyes started to water, drops then shed from my eyes. I wiped them trying to ignore the pain and walked over to my closet.
For my outfit I choose black skater skirt with matching thigh highs. I tucked my grey sweater into my skirt and paired it black booties and a crème knit hat.
I felt kind of adorable in my outfit.
I looked at the time and it was 7:58. I grabbed my burgundy coat and my phone and headed into the living room of my apartment. I felt my phone vibrating inside my hand. It was Evan.
Evan: I'm outside. Should I come up?
Me: Yeah I'm in room 313.
Evan: Be right up.
I was kind of on edge letting Evan into my apartment but for some reason, I trusted him.
I was startled by the shrieking pitch of the front doorbell. Okay this is it.
I walked over to the door to great Evan.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"You look gorgeous." Red leaked into my cheeks as I nervously smiled and bit my lip. I looked away nervously, but couldn't hide the red glow that came over my face.
"Thanks. You look very...handsome." His eyes are the darkest shade of brown, and his hair was messy, but not in a I just got out if bed way but in a casual breeze way.
Evan was wearing a long brown men's cardigan with blues jeans and a brown beanie and a tie. Causal but cute on him. He looked so perfect in an "everyone else is also going to find him hot" kind of way."
"Thanks, I try. So are you ready to go?"
"Yeah definitely." I let me out the door as I locked it behind me.
When we reached his car he pulled the door out if front of me to let me in. I sat inside admiring his dice mirror accessory when Evan got in.
He stared at me for a moment.
"Is there something wrong?"
"No you're just insanely beautiful."
I was completely shocked and contented at his comment.
"Evan."
"Sorry but it's true." He started the car made his way to the coffee shop. Luckily it was only five minutes away. Before I could get out of the car Evan already had the door open for me.
"Well isn't someone a gentlemen."
"Anything for a pretty lady."
"Flattery will get you nowhere sir." I joked. Evan shot me the cutest smirk and opened the coffee shop door.
In the coffee shop the lights were dim so all people could see was the stage of poetry readers. All of them were grunge dressed and had little cue cards with their words written down.
Evan picked a table for me and him and motioned for a waiter to get us two glasses of water.
"I love the atmosphere in here on Saturday nights. Its so prodigious how people can find inspiration in just a few words."
"I never saw it that way, I've just seen it as people gathering together to vend their feelings because no one else would listen."
"Its much more than that, Anna."
We sat and listened to the next couple of poetry readers.
