Lexa's POV
Finally! I am so glad that class is over. Second period for me is Art History and let me tell you, I've never heard a man say so many "umm"s and "uhhh"s in my life. He must be a millennial.
I laugh to myself from that thought.
During my break, I plan to say hi to my old math teacher, Mrs. Jones. She really got me and was funny for literally no reason.
As I rush through the doors because i'm a fast walker, I didn't have time to react when another student was coming through the same way and hit me head on.
I fell to the ground, and who ever just ran into me stumbled to the floor as well.
"Geez man!" I say trying to process the fall. Then I look up and it's her. The girl I made eye contact with in the cafeteria.
Jay's POV
I can not believe I just ran into this girl. That was so embarrassing. It's the girl I saw in the cafeteria!! Oh my God she must hate me now!!
"Oh my God, i'm so sorry!!" I apologize getting to my feet.
"Please, let me help you up" I say and reach out my hands for her to grab onto.
"Please, It's perfect fine. I was walking really fast and should have paid more attention." She says and accepts my help.
I easily pull her to her feet and put hands stay connected a moment longer that normal.
Eyes locked for a moment, we stand there, not knowing what to do.
She's the first one to break the silence. "Anyways, i'm going to go now... I'm going to visit one of my favorite teachers from last year." She says.
"Oh, so you're a sophomore? I guess that deducts points off of me from being new." I say, trying to continue the conversation that I don't want to end.
"Depends. You could be different." She says and eyes me up and down.
I blush.
"I- Let's hope so I guess." I stutter.
"Hmm. Well I'll see you around then Miss Different." She replies and starts to walk away.
"It's Jay..." I say as she walks away, not knowing if she heard me or not.
She turns around, now walking backwards to say "Lexa" and continues to walk to her destination.
Lexa... I think to myself. That's beautiful. I also think and slowly walk to where I assume Nicole is.
Lena's POV
"Lexa" is all I say and I turn back around to walk to Mrs. Jones's class.
I cannot believe that just happened. She is so beautiful and kind. What a coincidence that the girl I made eye contact with in the cafeteria is the girl I literally run into.
I cannot stop think about that encounter.
Electricity.
It felt like a magnet. I wanted to keep talking to her but I was afraid she'd find me weird wanting to hang out with her from only just now meeting her.
As I walk into Mrs. Jones room I have a huge smile on my face.
"Hey Mrs Jones!!" I say. "Someone's happy." She says grinning. Mrs Jones reminds me a lot of this friend I have who's in college. Her names Maddison and she's like an older sister to me. Maddison and Mrs Jones gives off the same vibe and I like that.
"I guess I am, Mrs Jones... I guess I am." I say and start think about the encounter that just took place about three minutes ago.
"Any particular reason? Normally students aren't this happy on the first day back to school, let alone high school." Mrs Jones says and types on her computer.
"I ran into someone. Quite literally. I don't really know why I'm so happy about it but it just felt..."
"Electric...?" Mrs Jones say's simply.
"YES! It really did." I say and smile again. "Do I know the kid? Sophomore? Junior? Freshman?" She asks, being nosey.
"I don't know if I should say. It's probably not going to go anywhere. It never does." I say with no emotion because I've just accepted it.
"Hey now, don't say that-" Mrs Jones says and gets up from her desk to go where i'm sitting at in one of her desks in her room. "Anyone would be so lucky to be with you or even just be friends with you. You are such a light in this dark town and anyone who says otherwise... well they are just wrong." She finishes.
"Thank you Mrs. Jones. I really appreciate it. Hopefully my brain will take that in at some point." I reply, trying not to get emotional because then I'd get picked on for my eyes being puffy.
"Any time Lexa. Now who is this person. You know you want to tell me" She states trying to get intel.
"She's a freshman..." I start. "And..." Mrs Jones pries. "And her name is Jay." I give in.
"Hmm... I don't think I've had her yet. When I do find out who she is, I'll make sure to put in a good word." She says and bumps into me, trying to cheer me up.
"Don't you even dare!" I say and we both start laughing.
"Well I'll see you later, Lexa. I need to get some work done and you need to go find that girl. Come back and visit me any time." Mrs Jones says walking back behind her desk.
"Okay Mrs Jones, I'll see you later" I laugh a little and walk out waving.
