"Slow yo ass down." Moosa, my best friend since 3rd grade, said grabbing me by the bright orange book bag that hung over my shoulder.

"Dude." I said throwing my hands up in fighting position. "You scared the fuck out of me." I pulled my AirPod out pausing the song that cascaded out the small speaker.

"I had been calling your name since you stepped out the school house." He said taking my book bag throwing it over his own shoulder. "I drove, come this way." He said turning around walking from the direction I just came. Kids from the school flooded out the spring weather was wet. Looking up at the sky the rain clouds hovered above moving slowly through the city. My shoulders dropped as I followed behind Moosa who toward over me and most of the other kids running around. He was a senior but he hardly ever graced the school with his face rather trap in the hood.

"Hey Moosa. Rose." Dominque said smiling at Moosa and rolling her eyes at me. That was regular with any girl who sucked his dick. They all hated me.

"Sup Niq. C'mon Ro." He said grabbing my wrist I smirked towards Dominque as Moosa pulled me behind him keeping me close.

"She hate my guts." I mumbled as he stuffed me in the white BMW truck he drove to the school. Reaching over me buckling my seat his round brown eyes landed on me.

"Rose." He said flatly as I smirked. Rolling my eyes as he closed the door.

"Wassup Gotti." I said to Moosa homeboy in the back.

I had to be clear Moosa had all the friends. He was my only friend and that's the only way he saw things. Of course I had other friends but Moosa came before them. Before everyone. He's my other half.

"Rose Gold. Wassup mama. How was school?" He asked nappy dreads covering the blunt he was hunched over rolling up.

Moosa got in the car after talking to Dominique who made her way over to the car before he could get in.

"You would know if you came right." I said as Gotti looked up at me, eyes a dark gray like the skies up ahead. Blemish free brown skin although his loc's was nappy as fuck his lining was fresh.

"You to damn pretty to be so mean." He said winking as I smiled turning around Moosa was staring at me. I rolled my eyes again.

"What?" He shook his head.

"Stop flirting with that nigga that's what." He barked as Gotti laughed I smirked.

"I don't date guys who don't come to school. So there's that." I said pulling out my sketch book and slipping my feet out the short UGGs crossing them in the seat.

"Don't forget that shit." Moosa said defiantly grabbing at my foot giving it a tight squeeze. "Y'all want McDonald's or Taco Bell?" He said getting in the right lane so he could turn by the restaurants. The heat felt so good inside the car with him squeezing my foot I was getting sleepy.

"McDonald's." Gotti said from the back I could feel Moosa eyes on me. Truth is whatever I wanted is what we were going to eat.

"McDonald's." I said looking at him as he nodded before putting his signal on.

"Rose Gold." Gotti said softly I looked back making eye contact once more he lit the blunt hitting it twice before passing it to me. Moosa backed into a parking spot where the three of us shared a blunt quietly.

"So what y'all do today?" I asked before sinking my teeth in a Big Mac with cheese. Moosa looked at me with a mouth full of fries he shook his head.
