I rolled over shirt sticking to my back. It was the first week of august and three weeks until my last year of high school started. Track practice had started and although I was in shape the summer sun still beat me down. Sitting up I saw one of my favorite people sitting outside the gate.
"When you get here?" I asked kissing him on the lips.
"I just got here for real for real." Nicki said passing me the cold Gatorade. I guzzled that boy down I was extremely hot and exhausted. "You fast as fuck." He said going to his side of the car as I went to the passenger side.
"Yea light on my feet." I said smiling sliding in the Tesla that I had become very familiar with.
Moosa got arrested two months ago since he's now 18 he got sentenced to 183 days in the county. Since I was a minor I couldn't visit him. He could only call landlines which we didn't have I could catch him on a three way every blue moon. So we had resorted to that old school mail. With Moosa away I started spending more time with Nicki. He was complete opposite of Moo.
"That's what's up. I ain't gone never see you once school start up. You gone be busy as fuck." He said heading to his penthouse. I wanted to go home and shower and hopefully get some drawing done. Where Moo required my presence Nicki required my attention. Which also opposite of Gotti who only required my conversation or ear I should say. He talked way more than me. So I knew I wouldn't get anything done when I was with Nicki.
"Yea you will. In moderation but nevertheless I'll never just disappear. I'm not that kind of friend." I said reaching in my gym bag for the bag of cherries that I'd frozen this morning just for this moment.
"Friend huh?" He laughed to himself. Handsome brown face. Thin eyebrows and sharp nose. He looked like money even with nothing of value on. He talked like money too. Almost condescending. "You so funny."
"I mean we are friends right? Or nah?" I asked he think because I kiss him randomly that our status has changed even though he hasn't once asked me to be his girlfriend.
"Yea..." he said nodding his head pulling into the valet hopping out without another word. I waited for a second until I realized he wasn't coming to open my door.
"Passenger princess." I said when he gave me a weird look when I finally met him on the sidewalk.
"What that mean? You done said it before." He said as I bit into the corner of my lip following him to the restaurant inside the hotel of which he lived.
"It's like a title." I laughed to myself. "So my friends say I ride the passenger seat so much I've earned princess privilege." I shrugged. "It's nothing." I said looking up into his hazel eyes. I was always intrigued by the irises of the men around me.
"What's the privilege?" He asked licking his lips leaning onto the table. Making me a bit uncomfortable.
"Like umm he opens and close my door. He seats me. Buckle and unbuckle me. Walk me to my entrances and meet me there on pick up." I laughed to myself again looking down at my hands, missing my other half. "I don't lift a finger when I'm in the passenger seat." I looked back at him as he now .
"Ohh." He said leaning back in his seat. "This the Moosa nigga huh?" He asked as I tilted my head to the side.
"We not doing that. You asked what it was I told you. Respect my honesty or take me home." I looked fragile but like a beautiful rose I had thorns which protected me. In this case it was the Pearl pink 38 in the side of my duffel slightly opened for easy access.
"Chill Princess I was just saying. Nigga think he ya daddy." He said as I shrugged which clearly pissed him off.
"Let's go ma." He stood up abruptly. I sighed but followed him out. He was sitting in the driver side with the passenger door open. It's a step.
