There's a legend called the Red String of Fate.
According to said legend; the gods tied an invisible red string to one's pinky finger, and tied the other end of said string to the one who you are destined to be with.
But what if it were possible for one to see these red strings on another's finger?

The sound of an alarm jolts Ryujin awake.
With a groan, she reaches for her phone on the nightstand and turns off the alarm.
It's always the same dream.
She lays back on her bed and stares up at the ceiling through sleepy eyes.
"I loved you."
"We're soulmates aren't we?"
"I'm letting go."
"It's not fair to J―"
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
"Ryujin! Open the door!" A voice booms from outside her apartment, so loud that Ryujin can hear it from her room.
Silence follows and Ryujin allows herself to close her eyes, drifting back into unconscious―
"Let me in or I'll ram this door open!"
The raven haired opens her eyes and is greeted to the sight of a red string floating from her right pinky, she groans as she gets out of bed and makes her way towards the entrance while letting out a yawn. She opens the door to find her best friend Chaeryeong standing outside her apartment with an impatient look on her face.
"You couldn't have waited at least a minute?" Ryujin complains before walking away from the door, Chaeryeong closes the door behind her before walking further into the apartment.
"Well, I didn't want to keep standing out there for another 15 minutes." She says with a smile as she flops onto the couch and turns on the TV.
Chaeryeong has been a constant in Ryujin's life. From when they first met in primary all the way to when they both got accepted to the same university and now.
Ryujin fills up the jug with water then waits for it to boil. She leans against the kitchen counter listening to some random music video coming from the TV. Chaeryeong loves the music channel―regardless of the fact it's filled with overplayed pop songs from the radio's top 40.
She stares out the window of her apartment, watching the hustle and bustle of the city below.
"Have you found a muse yet?" Chaeryeong voices out from the lounge.
"Don't call them that." Ryujin snaps, the jug dings and Ryujin starts making two cups of coffee. Black for Ryujin and 2 spoons of sugar and a splash of milk for Chaeryeong.
"What do you want to call them then? A subject? It's too science-y." Chaeryeong stands up from the couch and makes her way over to the kitchen counter.
She's wearing her favourite pair of Doc Martens, paired with a beige pleated skirt, a black crop top and a white fluffy cardigan. The only stark contrast would be her black hair.
"Person to photograph would work fine." Ryujin says before taking a sip from her mug. Chaeryeong shrugs before taking a sip from her own mug.
They settle into a comfortable silence, Chaeryeong looking out the window into the city while Ryujin's eyes are trained on the red string floating from her right pinky finger.
As Chaeryeong turns back towards her, Ryujin quickly averts her eyes to the steaming liquid from her mug. Avoiding the existence of the bright red strings floating around them.
