"Ready to zoom out of here?" Linden asked, while giving me one of his cheeky smirks.
"Just step on it pretty boy." I replied as I strap on my seatbelt. I was finally out of the hospital, and now I'm freely seated next to Linden in his car.
Linden stepped on the petal, and I actually thought we were zooming out of here with the sudden speed of the car. "So...now that we're both practically ditching school today...where should we go? The mall? The beach? My room?" After saying the last part he looked at me and sent me a wink.
I laughed, and for the hell of it, I replied, "Sure why not. Let's go to your room Lin."
I saw his mouth open a bit in shock, and he sneak a glance at me, "Alright." He then smiled brightly at me.
"Alright." I smiled at him. I love it when he smiles like that. Not the flirty smile, or the cheeky grin. It's just one of his rare smiles that I know he only shows me.
Going to his house didn't take long, and when we arrived, before I could even touch the door, Linden practically jumped out of his car and ran to my side.
He opened my door and suddenly he carried me out of his car and into his house. "Lin put me down! You don't have to do this you know. I can walk perfectly fine." As I told him that, my arms around him tighten slightly. Not that I'm scared he'll drop me, but you'll never know.
"I don't have to, but I want to. Plus, you're practically still a patient. But geez Bree, when did you get so bloody heavy?" He jokingly replied while pretending to be slightly stumbling due to my heaviness.
"Well if I'm so heavy then put me down." I giggly replied. Being carried like a princess is quite fun.
"I'll put you down when we're in my room."
I looked around, and noticed sometime, or more like, someone missing, "Where's your parents Lin?"
We entered his room, and he gently threw me to his bed while replying, "Long business trip. You know the usual. Leaving their only son to jet off somewhere. Clearly they trust me too much."
"Clearly they're making a mistake." I said.
He laughed and laid next to me on his bed. "But we can't really complain can we? Especially with all the sleepovers you had."
I thought about all those countless times I slept on this bed with him, as my sister continued to either work late or go on a business trip somewhere. "Yeah. That's true..." I trailed off as I start to play with his hair, and continue to think of ways I can ask Kellan questions about Cameron without having to tell him my whole story.
"Talk to me Bree." He looked at me, and for an instance, I thought of a future that could've happened if I met this guy first.
"It's nothing. I just...I think I'm scared of asking Kellan about Cam. I mean...what if all of my worries are reality? I don't think I can face them alone Lin." I cleared my throat as I said this, and willed myself not to let any tears fall from my eyes.
"Bree, how many times do I have to tell you that you're not alone? I'm here for you. Always have, and always will. Alright?" He hugged me and kissed my forehead, as the words fell from his lips.
"Alright." I hugged him tighter to me, scared that someone might take him away from me. Scared that I'll lose him too, like how I lost everyone else I loved.
"Now...let's just sleep and take on tomorrow when tomorrow comes. And that includes Kellan and Cameron, and whatever shite comes with it." He threw his bed covers on top of us and continued to hug me.
"But it's still light out." I replied him, trying to be cheeky.
"Close your eyes and it'll be dark in here."
I laughed and I did what he told me to do. I closed my eyes, and before I know it, I drifted off to sleep, with Lin's arms around me, seemingly protecting me from what lies ahead tomorrow.
