Twenty-eight-year-old Draco Malfoy was laying wide awake, staring with glassy eyes at the ceiling. Night number seventy-two of no sleep. The incessant crying was driving him insane.
He flopped onto his side and grabbed the now cold pillows from the other side of the bed, dragging them over his face, slightly wondering how long it took to smother someone with a pillow. He groaned again but gave up. He tossed the pillow back down and sat up, turning on the light beside his bed.
Nothing about him had changed much, except he insisted he was an inch taller. His hair had not lost a single bit of its pristine whiteness, his skin having not gained any color despite his hours outside in the sunshine. His body had indeed gained weight, but it was all healthy, as he now had good meat on his bones and lots of muscle, instead of being his stick thin, half dead self.
Draco dragged his feet as he walked out the dark bedroom and into the hall, opening the door to the newest addition to his home.
As he walked in, fairy lights hung around the room, a soft orange glow emitting from them. A little item called a radio sat in the corner, which stayed on a classical station. The baby crib took up the most space opposed to the large grey rocking chair in the corner which his wife and new daughter had taken residence in.
The young child was wailing, her mother trying to calm her down with a soft voice and her stuffed animal, but it wouldn't work.
He walked over, gently taking the screaming child into his arms, and started to bounce just slightly. The crying soon stopped, turning to baby chatter, turning to the simple sound of the quiet radio. He looked at his wife, her eyes exhausted, but grateful.
"I hate that you're her favorite..." She murmured, standing from the chair. Their daughter was almost a year old, but unfortunately wasn't growing very fast. His wife gripped his arm as she stood, her newest baby bump proving to be an issue with her now oversized breasts.
He smiled slightly, holding firm as she used him for support.
"You need to go to bed...Go lay down and I'll get Lyra into bed.... Then we can have some adult time..." Smiling a bit more but earned a slap.
"No, Draco. No adult time...I'm literally proven seven weeks pregnant and breast feeding." She snapped as Draco had her use the wall for a moment so he could put his daughter to bed.
He bent down and tucked her into the sheets, giving her a gentle kiss on the head, and standing back up, walking back to his wife, and taking her arms.
"You're tired. You're weak. And you shouldn't be trying to walk around." He said sternly, leading her back to their room. Draco helped her get into bed, hearing the heavy sigh of relief come from her as she finally laid down, reliving the tension.
Draco then got into his side of the bed, smiling a bit, reaching out and rubbed her tight stomach, knowing it felt nice with a slight rub. He watched as she turned over, holding her nightgown close, pulling the covers to her neck, causing him to have to slightly slide down under the covers a bit more, resting his head against his own pillows. He reached out with his spare hand and turned out his light, turning back to face her, smiling.
His wife turned and cuddled up against him, her head curling just below his neck, pressing to his jaw, her arms around him, although it was harder for her to hold onto his torso now with the larger body space she had. He reached out, gently stroking her back, and he spoke.
"Tomorrow you're going to lay here and be lazy..."
"Noooo...." She whined, but he chuckled.
"Yes. You're taking leave from work. The Minister of Magic gets leave for being pregnant. Relax and be lazy...I'll be here at home with you and Lyra the entire time." Draco said gently, as she murmured something else, but he just sighed, having not heard her.
Yes. This was perfect. She was perfect.
"I love you...." Her quiet voice whispered to the darkness.
He smiled larger, "I love you too, Hermione..."
