Chapter 51: Well of Records part 3

Noctis pov

The word 'alone' is an odd word but I felt the word describes this room perfectly. I showed my friends the papers and they were confused as well. So, we looked around the room again. The two groups still said the numbers as we passed by they, Prompto found another closed glass down but with no keypad in sight. Gladiolus and Ignis were staring at the groups. I wondered why but my eyes widened at a familiar figure. I immediately got away from my friends as they called my name, I ignored them and came face to face with my father. He looked the same when I left my home and he said,

"Hello, young man. How can I help you?"

My heart clenched as our eyes meet, this man showed a courteous smile and answered,

"Do...you not know me, your majesty?"

"I do not understand your words, young man." He replied back as my friends caught up with me and gasped in surprise.

"You should know me. I'm Noctis Caelum."

"...Noctis Caelum?" He sounded confused

"Yes!... I'm...your son!" I'm about to break down as Ignis patted my shoulder, my eyes looked at Ignis who seemed to bore his eyes at my father. He fixed his glasses and asked,

"Who are you? You may look to be his majesty, King Regis but his eyes were never yellow."

My eyes quickly looked at my father again and saw his eyes were indeed yellow. Gladiolus and Prompto were about ready to fight. The imposter held both hands up for surrender and said,

"You are correct, Ignis Scientia. I'm not the King of Insomnia; rather I'm the guardian of this well. My name is Cadan."

"Why do you have my father's form? Explain, Cadan!" I asked fiercely

"Because King Regis came here last time and I take the form of who entered the wells last," Cadan explained as we were startled that my father came here of all places and I asked,

"Why? Was he looking for information on the Grand Masters?"

"No, he was looking for the Aldercapt family bloodline."

"Aldercapt's family bloodline?"

"Yes, he was looking for certain individuals in the Aldercapt's family tree," Cadan said

"Is there a library that he went to?" I asked as he nodded his head, the ground below us shook and we looked down to see cracks.

"Oh, it looks like the Traitor is here. Would you like to go to the library now?" Caden asked as we nodded quickly, light engulfed again and we appeared in an old fashion library that hasn't been used in a long time. There are 4 floors of books that had shelves marked with the same symbols that we saw so far and statues that looked to be warriors.

"So cool!" Prompto said with excitement as he was taking pictures of the room, Gladiolus looked really happy with the books and Ignis stared at Caden intensely.

"Ignis Scientia, do you have a question?" Caden asked happily

"How do you know my family's last name? I never told you."

"No, but your family name has always been in the rebirth regardless." He answered as Ignis didn't ask any further and he looked uncomfortable.

"Caden, where is the Aldercapt's family bloodline book?" I asked as he snapped his fingers, a marble podium appeared in the middle of the room and my feet lead me to the podium. My hands reached for a thick red book that is titled 'Aldercapt lineage' and opened the book. My friends joined me as I am looking at the pages that contained names and a few pictures. I turned the next page to find a man that looked to be my father but was different. He was standing next to another man that had key characteristics of the Aldercapt family tree. They were smiling in front of the picture holding two staff. One staff looked to be of the moon and the other was a sun. They both wore robes that resembled my video game Assassin's Creed but it made them look regal.

"Hey Iggy, what do make of this photo?" I asked as he looked at the photo for a few minutes in thought and answered,

"This looks to be the first generation of the royal families at the time. From what I'm seeing, it looks to be Aldercapt and Caelum families were once allies."

"Shut up?! No way!!!" Prompto shouted

"I wish I could agree with blondie but it really looks like it," Gladiolus grumbled

"If our families were allies, what happened?" I asked in wonder

"I want to know why they are holding staff. Those look really cool." Prompto said

"You are correct. The Caelum and Aldercapt families were once allies." Caden answered

"However, that all changed when the Traitor and the Rebirth happened."

*Meanwhile, below the Well of Records*

"Damn you, Noctis Caelum!!! Damn you!!!" The Traitor shouted in frustration as she smashed all the books and shelves. When there was nothing left, The traitor mumbled in curses and said,

"I'm running out of time soon. I need my powers and you, ASTRIDER."

Finally, updated a new chapter and am happy with how this turned out. More mysteries and clues. What will the boys find?
