- Lily POV -

I hadn't been to the mall in SO long. I remember always getting Auntie Anne's with my mom when we were done.

"So where are we going first?" I asked Clay.

"A clothing store." he responded as he grabbed my wrist and dragged me to (your choice of clothing store).

"You look at the clothes in here and choose whatever you want." He told me. "I suggest trying them on first though." Clay added.

"What are you gonna do?"

"I'm going to look at...something else. I'll be back in maybe 30 or 40."

"Alright." I nodded as I turned around and entered the store. It was pretty big on the inside. I went to the women's section and looked at some of the clothes on the rack.

I found a ton of clothes I thought were my style, and kept the hangers attached to my arm. In the end, I found a couple flair jeans, lots of cropped t-shirt, and a black and white thin flannel sweater.

I listened to Clay's "advice" and tried the clothes on. I got rid of 2 pairs of pants and 1 shirt because they didn't fit me. So, I had 6 shirts and 4 pants and 1 sweater in total.

I did the math in my head, to see what the cost of everything would be, and it ended up being about 150 dollars. 150 DOLLARS! That was so much.

This gave me the determination to find a job soon. I wanted to help Clay pay some rent and buy some groceries. I didn't want him to pay for EVERYTHING.

I sat down for about 3 minutes, thinking about what I would want as a job. Clay finally got back and looked as if he ran here.

"You didn't have to run." I was holding back laughter.

"I-i didn't want to...be- late." he panted. I didn't think he was telling the truth, but I brushed it off.

"If I did the math right, I think this-" I help up the 11 clothing items I had "is worth about 150 dollars." I frowned.

"Don't worry, that's nothing." he said.

"Wow. Didn't need to rub it in." I joked.

We both stood up and headed to the cashier. He told me he didn't want to talk due to his other identity, so I did the talking to the cashier as he put in the PIN to his card.

After an hour of more shopping for more clothes, food, and other random stuff. We got into the car and I quickly slouched in my seat.

"So- when you were buying clothes, I got you a lil something." Clay reached to the back seat and held out a rectangle box.

I then realized what the picture on the front was. "WHY WOULD YOU BUY ME THIS!" I yelled as I took the white box from his hands and admired it.

"Come on. You will need it eventually." he smirked.

"Yea but PHONES cost so much! Plus you would have to pay even more each month! I really shouldn't accept this." I put the phone back in his lap and crossed my arms.

"I want to. I promise it is fine. Now take it!" he threw the phone box at me.

"fine" I mumbled as he started the car and began driving back to his house.

I looked out the window as I thought about how lucky I am. Just a day ago I was homeless, dirty, and lonely. Until Clay took me in to his home. If I never chose that spot, if there was never going to be a storm, then we probably wouldn't have met.

It's crazy how my life could've been way different in another universe now. I was so grateful for everything Clay was doing for me. But I felt bad at how expensive I am.

"I think I am going to look for a job." I told him.

"Why? Well, I mean like why do you want to?"

"So I can help you pay for stuff."

"You don't need to. I'm fine with it."

"I want to. Plus, it would be a good experience." I told him. He hummed in response and kept driving.
