Son of a Sith

I looked out the large window in the walking halls, I pressed my hands to its cold surface. I thought about my current situation... I was stuck in a Ranger, (a ship slightly smaller than a Star Cruiser), my mother and I were being transferred to the Kavice System. Where my father wouldn't be awaiting our arrival, no one knew that we belonged to Sith Aureliat Vargas; they always saw us as a lone mother with her child. No one knew about the danger that we carried inside us, no one even suspected it.

"Vorion Ureliat! Where have you been I've been looking all over for you," my mother ran over to me.

"Mum I don't feel well I'm nervous again..." my insides felt like there were mixing around.

"Be mindful of your feelings my son, don't let them take over," she hugged me close and l felt the chaos in my body leave.

My mum was the greatest woman in the galaxy to me, I loved her with my everything; she had always protected me. She knew how to soothe my pains and ailments, I really would be nothing without her. Throughout this whole process of transferring away from father, she had been strong and ready for everything. I looked up to her, she was my hero. She was the one who saved me, when my father had tried to kill me.

There was an announcement over the ship's con that said we would be jumping out of hyperspace and landing in five minutes. Mum and I decided to go to our quarters and pack our belongings. She helped me put my things in my pack, but then she did something I had never seen her do before; she took out a saber and hooked it to her belt. I had never seen her saber before, I never knew she had one.

She noticed me eyeballing her saber, our eyes met and she shook her head at me. There were so many questions that my mind was spinning with. Where did she get it from? Did father know she had it? What would she be using it for? Was she Sith or Jedi?

Mother and I strapped our bags to us and made our way, hand in hand to the passenger exits. Mother led me over to a row of seats and had me sit in one, she then put an infinity tether on my wrist and waited for it to dissolve into my skin. Then she put the other end on her wrist and watched it dissolve into her wrist. Then she looked me in the eyes, there was an emotion in them that I had never seen before...

"Vorion, I need you to know that some things will happen soon... and you won't understand them..." she took a deep breath and put her hand on my cheek.

"Mother?" I whispered.

"Shh, Vorion... I need you to know that I love you more than the heavens... I love you more than my homeworld... I love you so much... but I need you to do something for me..."

I nodded, "Anything for you mother."

"If we get separated or something terrible happens... I need you to find the Rakvri Bunker... it will be your home no matter what you find there... you need to find a man named Oasi and tell him who you and who your father is..."

I looked up at her in confusion but she shook her head then spoke to me again only in a whisper, "Also, my son... no matter what happens to me... purge your fear. Do not cause yourself to pain by grieving over what will never change," she kissed my forehead then took my hand and we blended with the crowd and put our hoods on.

It was pouring outside, mother didn't want me to deliberately catch an illness... She didn't want our faces to be seen either as we filed out of the ship with the rest of the crowd. We avoided the street guards and monitors that were everywhere on the platform. We were making our way through merchant carts when a blast shot past my mother's ear... she tightened her grip on my hand and we began to run through the crowds in the merchant area. There was shouting and shots fired behind us and we just picked up speed dodging people and carts.

We had finally made it to a crowded city square and mother looked angry, she held out her hand and the light saber flew out and landed in her hand. The blade clicked on and a black beam appeared, mother put me under her cloak as she deflected the shots that seemed to be coming from behind us. I had never seen her fight this way...

Then she pushed out her hand and two of our followers flew backwards, I had screamed and she just looked at me for a second before she had been shot. Shot in the abdomen, why couldn't she deflect it... She fell to the ground, convulsing and breathing heavily. I laid on top of her continuously wiping the rain off of her face. Her saber blade retracted and fell some ways away. Our followers were closing in, and I had felt so many emotions overcome me.

A man with horns covering his head came up to me with his saber drawn, he smiled wickedly at our pain, he even laughed as he raised his hand and I was thrown away from my mother. I just laid there in the water and didn't move, I felt weak and helpless. I heard the man call her names: traitor, bitch, whore. She wasn't any of these things...

Some of the followers came over to me and made me face my mother, the two of us on our knees... facing each other. The horned man... he was wearing Sith attire, he had my mother's saber and his in each hand. He was standing behind my mother with the blades near her neck executioner style.

He cackled, "Let this be an example to you all," he boomed to the crowds who were watching, "Betrayal is looked down upon... whether you are the the Sith Rulers Wife, or a commoner in the stars."

The surrounding crowd whispered to each other. Tears made it hard for me to see much of anything, just the figure of my own mother seemed familiar.

"I am Darth Criteous, I am the apprentice of Sith Lord Aureliat Vargas. I am carrying out his orders to execute this woman for her treacherous crimes against the empire. She is a traitor and all traitors must be taken care of properly," He readied himself to behead my mother.

Everything turned blurry except for the look on my mother's face, there was complete peace on her face, in her eyes. I heard her whisper to me, " Don't look Vorion, you don't need this pain. Just remember how much I love you, embrace the force, and find Oasi."

I closed my eyes and turned my head as Darth Criteous collided the blades with the flesh on my mothers neck. He cut through it, I heard the crowd scream and gasp, when opened my eyes I saw my mother lying on her stomach, her head rolling a few inches away. Something changed inside me, I felt everything shift, I raised my hand and my mother's black bladed saber flew into my hand and I tightened my grip around it. In one sweeping motion I killed my restrainers and ran towards Darth Criterous. He was taken by surprise but a lightsaber duel ensued. I had a strength that I had never felt before, every blow he sent my saber I sent him one back twice has hard.

I cut his hands off then brought him to his knees, "This is for killing my mother you insolent piece of filth," I struck his neck and he fell to the ground beheaded as my mother had been. I stood in the pouring rain, half bent over in the middle of dead bodies some beheaded others disassembled.

I picked up my pack and gently put my hand on my mother's cold body. I sighed then hooked the lightsaber to my belt. I stood up, it was a struggle to not lay down with my mother and weep the way I wanted to... but I couldn't let my father find me.

I grit my teeth and slowly made my way, using the force to find that bunker. I had lost my mother and my innocence all in one day.

All because I was the son of a Sith.
