CW: Hurt/Comfort
Mildly heartbreaking frenrey moment where Gordon is taking Benrey out to all these different places, they're both having the time of their life just having fun with each other and being happy.
At some point towards the end Gordon says how he's been having such a great time, and Benrey goes "Yeah bro this date is fucking poggers"
And Gordon, thinking Benrey is joking, replies with "Benrey, this isn't a date??"
"Whuh? Uh yeah it is, why else would you drag me along for all this?"
And Gordos, being a clueless dumbass, goes "Dude, can't I hang out with my friend?? It's not a date, stop being weird." He says this playfully but doesn't realize how much that hurt Benrey. But ofc Benrey brushes it off and pretends like he's fine.
Cut forward some point later in time, Benrey takes Gordon out to do something that is obviously meant to be for romantic couples. Gordon often gets flustered by Benrey's actions, and is feeling a lot of things and maybe getting mushy-brained. Towards the end he tells Benrey,
"Hey. Thanks for taking me out on this date, it really means a lot to me."
and Benrey hates to do it but he's petty and salty so he goes "Whuh? This isn't a date bro."
and Gordon thinks he's joking and replies,
"We held hands the entire time??" and with a serious expression/tone Benrey goes "Can't I hang out with my f r i e n d, bro?"
And gordon gets a sinking feeling as he realizes he is serious.
"Dunno, why did you take me to all those places before if those weren't dates?"
Gordon realizes what he did wrong, the convo from their other night out resurfacing in his memory. Benrey is trying to push this off like it doesn't bother him, and trying not to show weakness as he senses Gordon's distress.
But then Gordon makes a confession. Those were some of the best times he had, he had wanted to call them dates but he panicked in that moment and didn't fully think his response through. He tells him that he really does like Benrey a lot but he understands if he is angry with him, but Benrey explains that he's not angry, he's hurt. And he wanted Gordon to feel how he felt.
And Gordon gets upset realizing that this whole thing was for a stupid revenge plan, but also kinda goes "Yeah I guess I deserve that" and Benrey says "Shut up I wasn't done talking" and says how he was feeling genuinely happy the whole time he was with him and didn't really want to make him feel bad. He wanted it to be real. He honestly just wished it could all be real.
Anyway fast forward they apologize and make up and go on a real date and be happy cause I can't let shit be sad forever cause my poor lil heart can't take it </3
