◇◇◇
Kazuhiko is an orphan. A boy whose fate revolved around the hospital his whole life after his parents drops him off in this facility three years ago and fled without hesitation. I was observing him, back when I told myself he looks familiar. Not a trace of sadness dwelled in his luminous eyes; a contrast to his messy black-like night sky. I once read his name plate before going in, his name has the meaning of prince in it.
The boy himself delightedly welcome us and told us to feel comfortable in his lovely abode. He thanked the nurses who accompanied us and so do we - slightly bowing down to show our appreciation for showing us Kazuhiko's room. There was a comfy-looking sofa positioned near his bed, however, Dazai politely decline to sit. He says he prefers standing. He smiles at the young child to reassure him before he lets his eyes wander around the room, taking small steps around.
I intend to stand beside the glass window, yet I caught Kazuhiko's eyes staring at me with his curiosity running inside his mind, but I cannot help but notice it also looks mindless. Truthfully, I suddenly felt ashamed, my fingers started to feel the urge of tapping to get rid of my panic from the pressure that was placed upon me. Unable to refuse, I gave up; a small shallow sigh escaped from my mouth. It is almost as if the boy convinced me to sit down. As I sat down beside Ranpo, I watched Kazuhiko's face lift and twisted his lips upward, forming a grin that reaches up both to his ear. The boy looks satisfied.
Averting my eyes away from the boy, I caught Ranpo laughing at my decision. Only then, I felt my ears heat up. "Even though you deny it, you're just like your older brother." Unable to refuse a child's request. That is what he intends to say with that statement. I wanted to disagree and insist that Sakunosuke has that type of weakness, but he proceeds to his questioning, purposely ignoring me as a form of tease.
We started by asking about his health state. I keep glancing at the white teen who was looking at the child rather with concern. I figured that he might be curious about the fact that he was left alone in this hospital. Like a heart seeking a fellow bearer of fate. Atsushi felt a sense of sanctuary within the young boy's room.
"You were looking for a boy in your age?" Ranpo's voice echoed within the room before silence consumed the air between them. He fell silent for a moment, calculating all of Kazuhiko's information.
"I don't have an opportunity to go out." Kazuhiko hung his head low, he played with his small fingers, easing himself from the dead air. We were told that he knows so little about his friend and that he only had time with him one day at Kanagawa Medical Center.
A roughly three-foot-tall boy, with chestnut hair, and eyes that he exactly describes as something like gold-those are the features that Kazuhiko had relayed. He had a hard time convincing us that other than that, he cannot ask his name. He was aware of how his story was a mess and when you ask him about the gaps such as asking how they met, he falls silent.
