"You got partnered up with who!?"
I took out my sandwich from my bag and rolled my eyes at Gina.
"Sammy, okay? He isn't even that bad" I took a bite out of my peanut butter and jelly. "All I want is a good grade on this. That's it."
Hailey laughed and drank from her milk. "Then get used to doing all the work."
"I'm not going to let him do all the work" I said. "I'll throw a fridge at him if he makes me do all the work."
The three of us started laughing as we ate our lunch.
Gina stopped and looked up. "speaking of the devil."
I turned around and saw Sammy with his group of friends. They all chuckled in laughter as they walked over to their table.
I turned back around and saw Gina giving me a look.
"What?" I asked as I crumpled up the last bits of my lunch.
"I'll pray for you my friend" Gina said and got up to throw away hers.
Hailey laughed. "Tomorrow do you wanna hang at the mall? I'm in desperate need of some shopping."
"Yeah" I nodded my head. "I probably won't answer the door since-"
"Don't worry I have a key" Hailey smiled.
I raised my eyebrows. "How do-" I shook my head. "Nevermind."
Gina came back walking over. "Hey guys, there's a new girl."
"Another new girl?" I asked. "Oh wait" I laughed. "I was the new girl."
"Was" Gina repeated.
"How do you know she's new?" Hailey asked.
Gina titled her head to the left. I looked and saw a brunette girl sitting alone at a table.
"Definitely new" I said. "That was me on my first day"
"Well let's go introduce ourselves" Hailey smiled and got up "She needs friends."
I followed her actions and we walked over to the new girl's table.
"Hi" I smiled "I'm Katherine."
The girl looked at all of us. Her eyes filled with confusion.
Hailey let out a laugh but she covered it with a cough. "Sorry. I'm Hailey."
"I'm Gina!" Gina smiled, as if there was a halo hanging above her head.
The girl cracked a smile at Gina's introduction. "I'm- I'm Jocelyn" her voice was barely audible.
"Joey?" Gina asked. "Hi Joey!"
"Jocelyn" She spoke up. "I'm Jocelyn."
"Hi Jocelyn" I said. "Don't worry, I was new too."
"We'll be your friends, I mean you kinda needs some be-" Hailey started but I punched her on the arm before she could say anything else. "Oh sorry."
I laughed and realized I left my phone in my locker. I placed it on top of my math book since I couldn't hold all my others in my arms.
"I'll be back" I said and sped over to my locker.
The first second I got there I entered the combo and quickly grabbed my device. I checked through it and began walking back to the cafeteria.
I felt something bump into me.
"Hey-" I said and looked at the person.
Sammy smirked and clicked my phone off. "Hey."
"Sorry" I said. "I thought you were someone else."
"And if I was someone else?" Sammy asked me.
"I would tell you to move" I said and walked around him.
He grabbed me by my arm, making me face him.
"I was thinking. Tomorrow we should get started on our project" Sammy said. "Is that alright?"
I shook my head "I can't. Tomorrow I'm-"
"Great. I'll wait for you after school so we could go to your house" Sammy smiled and started to walk away. "See you later partner!"
I sighed and stood in place. "Great" I mumbled.
