Once the school bells rang to release us from school, I hurried to Hailey's locker and made sure to keep my head low. She came hauling her books from her last class and raised an eyebrow at the sight of me. I hastily pulled her over so she could quickly put her books into her locker.

"Are you okay?" she wondered with a laugh. "What exactly are you doing?"

"I'm hiding from a certain someone," I mumbled, concealing my face with my hair. "Are you done?"

Hailey shut her locker just as I grabbed her wrist and dragged her out the door. I unlocked my car and jumped into my seat while Hailey got into the one next to mine. I buckled my seatbelt on and cautiously looked around when leaving the premises.

"If you keep moving your head around like that, you're gonna hit—"

We both squealed as I screeched to a stop, preventing myself from crashing into a boy walking across the street. My eyes widened once I realized it was Sammy. Shit. I slid into my seat and honked until he moved. Hailey rolled the window down and yelled out an apology.

"Wasn't that Sammy?" she asked. "Are you avoiding him?"

I nervously laughed. "Somewhat. We were supposed to work on our project after school—"

"Katherine!"

"I was trying to tell him that I was busy, but he interrupted and decided that we would meet anyways! He was being rude, so I decided to just ignore him. Plus, I need new clothes," I explained.

Hailey smiled with a shake of her head. Once we got into the mall, we scattered around to about fifteen different stores. In the end, we came out with only two bags each. We were going down on the escalator, counting the money we had left for food. When I looked up to see where we should go to eat, I spotted a toned boy leaning against the wall, texting away on his phone.

"Oh my God, he is such a creep. Did he follow us?" I cursed, quickly turning away to avoid making eye contact.

Hailey kept a lingering look on him. "Dude, if I were you, I would've already jumped on that thing already."

I slammed my palm to my forehead and waved her comment away. When we finally got to the end of the escalator, I grabbed her hand and rushed towards the food court. I flung myself under the table.

Hailey snorted. "Okay, well, I'm gonna get our food. The usual, right?" She nodded over at Panda Express.

I nodded and tried staying concealed under the furniture. Sure, it's a stupid idea, but I'm hidden, right?

A few minutes later, Hailey returned back with a tray of food. My stomach growled at the delicious aroma, but before I could grab it, someone pulled one of the chairs open. I froze and inched away, hugging Hailey's legs.

"Hey...?"

"Hailey."
