The eyes were a gateway to the soul.

Although to isn't scientifically proven, cultures across the word believed there was something sacry about the eyes.

Even in things like movies and romance novels, something about the eyes was unique and needed to be cherished.

Although sometimes it could be a negative response, like in ancient Greece and Rome the eye was known to have powers that could harm or curse someone with a single glance. This was called the Evil Eye.

The Eye of Horus - the Egyptian myth being that Horus lost his eye in a battle to avenge his father's death. The symbol represented Health and Protection after a goddess had restored his eye back in its place.

Or the third eye. According to legend, Shiva the Hindu god was shot with an arrow by the god of lust. In retaliation Shiva opened his Third eye and burnt Kama. By opening up the third eye, he perceived a dimension within himself which is beyond the physical, giving powers often associated with visions, clairvoyance, the ability to observe chakras and auras, precognition, and out-of-body experiences.

It made him wonder what his third eye would look like, especially considering each one was two different colors.
