"Cassandra! If you don't leave in the next five minutes, you're gonna be late!"
"Alright! I'm going!" I yelled back at my mom before taking one last look in the mirror.
I rushed to the door and grabbed my keys off the hook.
"Bye mom, love you!"
"Love you too Cassandra", She replied relieved that I was finally out the door.
I took forever getting ready, making sure I looked presentable on my first day at a new school. It was short notice that I was moving schools but my aunt talked my mom into moving me to West Valley High School.
I was feeling so many emotions at once, excited, nervous, curious. I was open to making new friends and even if things don't work out too well, I have my cousin Yasmine. Sure Yasmine wasn't the nicest, but we practically grew up together so we're very close.
After 10 minutes of driving, I finally arrived.
Cas-Hey, are you here yet?
Yasmine-I'm by the entrance with Demtri, come over here.
Cas-kk
Oh god! I don't wanna start the school year third wheeling.
I gathered my things, and made my way to the entrance where Yas and Demitri were.
"Hey Sandy, let's go in and find out our schedule." I smiled as Demitri waved at me.
~
"Looks like you have your first class with Demitri, Demitri walk her to class and let's meet up after.""Okay"
"Let's go Cassandra, we don't wanna be late for physics" I never understood when people called other people "nerd" until I met Demitri.
We walked into class and someone called Demetri.
"Hey, Demetri over here!" He was a boy, about 5'9, and a little tan.
I followed behind Demetri towards the boy.
"Hey Miguel, this is Yasmin's cousin, Cassandra."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Miguel." He put his hand out and I shook it. We both smiled at each other.
He was cute.
"Have you seen Hawk?" Demetri asked Miguel.
"No, I thought you might've." Replied Miguel.
"Cassandra sit down", Said Demetri as he patted the chair next to him. So I did.
"So Cassandra, are you new to West Valley?" Asked Miguel.
"Yeah, I am", Good thing I already know Yasmin and Demtri.
"Well now you know me, and we'll introduce you to Hawk."
Hawk? What a weird name, I didn't question them though.
The rest of class was just an introduction, and basic procedures. Miguel was really friendly, I was relieved to say I had made a new friend. I was very curious about this Hawk, he kept coming up in the conversations.
Next, I had English with Yasmin and her friend Moon. She was really sweet, I guess I could also add her to my list of new friends.
I walked with Yasmin, Moon, Demetri, and Miguel to lunch.
"Let's hurry guys, Hawk saved us a table", Said Moon rushing us.
Moon was ahead of all of us really eager to see this Hawk guy, Yasmin and Demetri holding hands behind her, while me and Miguel talked still following behind everyone.
"Come on guys over here." Said Moon leading us to a table.
We all walked to the table who was being saved by a boy sitting there.
Before I could take a seat Miguel introduced me.
"Hawk this is Cassandra, Cassandra this is Hawk." The boy looked up and I felt my face slightly drop, his expression nearly mirroring mine. My body froze up.
It was Eli.
His hair had grown out a little bit.
Moon sat down and kissed his cheek. So that's why he didn't call me back.
"My boyfriend", She said smiling, oblivious to the situation.
"Do you guys know each other?" Asked Miguel confused.
"No, we don't!", I quickly took a seat and tried to brush it off.
Nobody else seemed to notice anything. Everyone carried on with their conversations and ate their lunch. I tried to ignore the fact that Eli was there and that they all knew him as Hawk.
I kept shooting discreet glances at him, until I grew frustrated that he didn't acknowledge my presence.
The rest of the day went on like this, I had two classes with him, and not once did he look at me.
~
I made my way to my car after saying bye to everyone, until I heard someone call me.
"Cassie!" There's only one person who calls me that.
I turned around to see Eli running after me.
"Hey", He said once he reached me, out of breath.
I fidgeted with my keys waiting for him to keep talking.
"Can we talk?"
"Sure"
"So uh..i'm sorry, I should've called, but I had just broken up with my girlfriend. It was just the moment, it was nothing serious. We were both just having fun."
I nodded, not really knowing what to answer to that.
"So if you're okay with it I think we should start over and be friends."
I simply smiled to save me from further discomfort.
"Sure"
"Thanks for understanding Cassie" He said before patting my shoulder and walking off.
So that's it?
I mean he never called, but that doesn't mean I didn't like him.
Let me know what you guys think! Also I know it's a short chapter but I think that's how this chapter should've ended.
