A week had passed and everything was going good. I've almost forgotten about the Eli situation, whenever he was around it didn't feel weird. Maybe because I had gotten close to everyone else, it was easy to look past that.

We had been assigned a project for history and our group consisted of four people. It was me, Eli, Miguel and my new friend, Tory. Miguel was absent at school today, so it was just us three.

"So is that party still happening?" Tory asked Eli, keeping her gaze on the unfinished diorama of, "The American Revolution".

"Hell yeah! It's not everyday you turn seventeen, it's gonna be badass."

Eli always felt strongly about the events in his life, whether they were positive or negative, it was one of his main personality traits.

"I'll send you the invitation too Cassie", He said as he stirred a paintbrush in water.

"Miguel will probably be there." Tory said, discreetly shooting me a look, but not discreetly enough.

"You like Miguel?" He asked completely stopping what he was working on.

I felt my face slowly heat up.

"I don't", I answered trying to end the conversation at that.

"Come on Cassandra, all that time y'all spend together. One of y'all is bound to fall in love."

"Love is a strong word"

"Yeah, besides him and Sam are "bound" to get back together." He said, emphasizing the "bound".

"Whatever Hawk, you obviously haven't noticed the way Miguel acts around her, because you're too busy being obsessed with Moon."

"You think Miguel likes me?" I asked almost hesitant.

"I think he does", She answered shrugging.

"But him and Sam literally just broke up." This time his voice was more stern.

"It's okay, me and Miguel are strictly friends"

Eli's party was tonight, and I was still contemplating whether to go or not. The closest I've been to a high school party, is a small get together at a friend's house.

I started getting a call, interrupting my concerns about Eli's party.

To my surprise, it was Miguel. I picked up the call.

"Hello?"

"Cassandra! Are you going tonight?"

"I don't know Miguel, I'm not really feeling partying tonight."

"Come on, it'll be fun"

"I'm kind of tired. You should still go though"

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah I'm sure, goodnight Miguel."

"Goodnight Sandra"
He hung up and I put my phone down wondering if I made the right choice.

I looked up at my closet and noticed the pretty pink dress on a plastic hanger. I haven't worn the dress yet, and I would look so good in it. I put it on and looked at myself who suddenly went up on an attractive rank.

What if Miguel saw me in this?

I blushed at the thought, and sighed.

I'm going to that party.

I began to get ready, and after an hour I was out the door and going into my car. As I drove, I couldn't stop thinking about what Tory said, while the things Eli said completely slipped my mind.
