Today is the day when Tate’s fate will change once again, the day which she’ll always remember. Today is her 20th birthday but also her mother’s death anniversary. Carson family is the most famous one in Spain because of their car business. He organizes his daughter’s birthday party but it’s not the only surprise that waits for her. Tate’s mother Bethany died in a car crash on her way home from work when Tate was only 6 years old. Her death ruined both of them, but somehow they made it without her. Since then her only support was Tom. He did everything to comfort his little daughter but it never replaced the mother love that she always begged for. Tate was never pleased, she blamed her father for what happened because the day before her mother's death, Tom and Bethany had an argument. Even if the incident wasn’t his fault he let her believe whatever she wanted. After the hard working days, Tom was always supporting, trustful and caring for his only child. He was the exact meaning of the word ‘father’.
Now everything is ready for the surprise to my main character. Carson’s mansion is decorated with magnificent lights, balloons and lots of lilies. There is a background music and her favorite people are waiting for her.
Finally, Tate’s car engine is heard and footsteps are approaching. She opens the front door and nothing can be seen because it’s dark, anything that she can feel is the strong smell of the flowers. A smile appears on her face. She casually turns on the lights and all her friends are waiting for her. Everyone shouts ‘surprise’! Tears, laughs, and a lot more feelings are mixed. But someone is missing, and it’s the organizer of tonight. Two hours later everyone’s gone. Tate heads very tired to her room and opens the door. Screams, tears and no answers…these are exactly the words that can describe what happened in that ’cold’ room. Tom is laying on her bed. The room is full with lilies, the windows are closed and silence is following. Tate is repeating ‘what happened’, still shocked in her head.
