"Okay...Okay, okay, okay..." You tried to run a hand through your hair in panicked thought but lowered it when the blood mixed into it made it impossible. "Go delete the evidence, I'll handle the tape."
Dylan nodded frantically and you spared a glance behind to see what the others were doing. The rest of your friends were slowly beginning to flood out of the lodge. You didn't have much time to put this plan into motion.
"Go!"
The two of you separated here as he headed into Mr H's office. You bolted up the stairs as fast as you could, only narrowly missing slamming down onto the stairs as you veered around a corner. Your heart thudded in your chest as you scrambled around the upper floor, morning light streaming in. Voices came from below, a mix of your friends' and those of strangers.
Fuck come on where is it?!
Shuffling around random boxes, your hadn't finally came in contact with a rectangular object. The tape. Bingo. Now you just needed something to break it with because soon the cops would be informed that the group was one of 10 and not 8 and they'd start filing into the lodge to find the two missing counsellors and then the entire group's cover would be blown and then-
Grabbing the heaviest object you could find around, you smashed it down onto the tape over and over again until it shattered entirely into pieces. It felt good to break something after everything that had happened, an outlet of sorts, though you had a suspicion it would feel a lot better if you weren't on a time limit.
Okay, that's good enough.
Satisfied with your work, you scooped the pieces up into your hands and scattered them all around the room in a couple of quick throws. Without a single shard left on your hands, you made your way back down the stairs as quick as you went up.
A look out the front door told you that most of the cops and paramedics outside were currently occupied with one thing or another, giving you an opening to get out and blend in. Dylan was nowhere in sight so you assumed he was still doing...well whatever he was doing on that computer. You hoped upon hoped that he'd get out here in time but took the chance nonetheless, walking out of the door as nonchalantly as you possibly could.
About a dozen cops were spread around the large lawn of Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp and about some paramedics had already begun tending to your friends.
Guess I should join them, get checked out myself. Rather that than the cops.
As you walked towards one of the parked ambulances, you caught Travis' eye. He was conversing with one of the officers, a brown haired woman, but still gave you the slightest of reactions. A simple raise of an eyebrow. You gave the smallest nod possible and with that he turned back to talking with the woman. That was probably good.
Travis feels relieved.
"We got another one here!"
You snapped back into attention at the sound of a paramedic's voice, a young looking woman with her hair high in a ponytail. Sighing, you allowed her to approach you and wrap a blanket around your shoulders. The blanket did feel good in the morning chill but it did little to settle your anxiety.
