"Luna! It's such a pleasure to meet you after all this time!" An excited voice pulled me out of my thoughts as I ate breakfast. I looked up at a short, curvy blonde that had a shocking resemblance to Damian.
"Hi," I said shyly, overwhelmed by her happiness. She laughed and shook my hand.
"I'm Brianna, Damian's younger sister." Oh, yeah, I had guessed. I smiled, liking her already.
"It's nice to meet you too. It's just Cass to you." I replied, giggling as she flopped down and helped herself to an apple.
"Finally, I have someone to gang up on Damian with." Oh boy. I had a feeling that there was going to be pranks in my future.
"Sometimes he needs to be put in his place." I laughed, taking another bite of my sausage.
"Who does?" A deep voice made me jump and I glanced at Brianna. She looked at Damian.
"You, duh. Who else would I be talking about?" She sassed, making me almost choke on my food. She was allowed to talk to him like that. If that happened in my pack, I'd have a broken rib.
"If anyone needs to be put in their place, Bri, it's you." Damian said, shoving her shoulder lightly. She just huffed and stuck her tongue out at him.
Damian looked at me, silently asking if I was okay. I nodded and continued to eat my food. I didn't want to bother anyone, so I had made my own breakfast this morning.
"Cass, would you like to go on a run today?" At that, I tensed up. My father always told me that I shouldn't shift in front of other people. My wolf was a deep red color, which was extremely rare. He said that I was probably the only living werewolf with a red coat. He considered me dangerous, and I knew that if he found out that I had shown an outsider my coat, he would beat me.
"Um... N-no, I think I'll just go for one alone." I mumbled.
"Why? It's customary for mates to go on their first run together." I cringed at how right he was.
"Yeah. It's fine, I'll just go on one alone." Damian narrowed his eyes at my refusal.
"Fine, I didn't want to do this, but Cassidy, you will go on a run with me today. Okay?" Damn, he pulled the fricking alpha card. I just nodded, shrinking away from his gaze.
"Good. Meet me outside after you're done eating. I'll be sitting on one of the benches." with that, he left the kitchen. I wasn't hungry anymore. Brianna gave me a soft look before she left me alone.
Sighing, I washed my plate and made my way out of the house. As promised, he was waiting on one of the benches. He let out a smile at my approaching figure, and he stood up and started walking to the forest.
I followed behind, becoming increasingly nervous. What if he knew how rare I was? It seemed like he didn't notice my coat when he caught me, but I'm not sure.
When we got to the forest, he stripped behind a tree. I did the same, shifting quickly into my wolf. I wasn't small but compared to the alpha standing in front of me, I was a dwarf. I shifted nervously as his wide eyes took in my coat. I could feel him wanting to mind-link, so I allowed his voice to echo in my head.
'You're a red wolf? I thought they were extinct.' he started walking to me, walking in an observing circle around me. I stood still as a statue and watched him.
'Apparently not. I don't want people to know.' I pleaded silently with Damian, telling him not to blab about it. He nodded his huge black head, wagging his tail. I followed suit, finally able to relax.
