JULY // A YEAR AGO
~MAGGIE~
"Okay okay so do we want all the parents at the same table or are we gonna split them up," I asked as I pulled two magnetic cards off of the white board lying on my living room table.
"No, no, no, you can't put them together! They've never met! I guarantee you that will be a recipe for disaster," Goldie chimed in, grabbing the card labeled "Mr. and Mrs. Horan" and placing it next to a circle with the number 13 in it.
"I don't know," Brooklyn said shrugging her shoulders, "I mean Niall's met my parents and I've Facetimed with his a bunch and we both agree that they probably would get along pretty well".
"I'm gonna go team Goldie on this one," Daisy said while she tapped her girlfriend's thigh lovingly.
"I think I agree," Caroline added, "as the other partner of a Horan here, their parents just seem like a lot and even if they got along great juuuuust to be safe I think it's best to separate them."
"Alright then, table 13 for Niall's parents and I guess table 6 for mine, put them with my cousins" Brooklyn decided.
It had been three months since Niall proposed to Brooklyn but only two were left before the wedding since they had decided they wanted to get married in September. Brooklyn had always dreamed of a late summer/early fall wedding and they were too excited to get married so they didn't want to have to wait a whole extra year. So they found a venue right on the beach that had a last minute cancellation and we all promised we would pitch in with wedding planning and make sure they could pull it off in the limited time frame.
In between my shifts at the cafe and meetings with Sabrina to figure out everything for me taking over, and everyone else starting their big adult post grad jobs it was hard to find the time to all get together and help out.
We had finally been able to find a night where all us girls could get together and help with all the more time consuming things like seating charts, making a playlist since there wasn't enough notice to hire a DJ, pick out the readings different people would do during the ceremony, and making name cards for people to know where they sit.
It was nearing 11pm, wine was flowing and our motivation was deteriorating with every sip.
"Alright, maybe we should call it quits for the night. Daisy, how did we do on name cards?" I asked.
"I finished them! They're all in the box over there," she replied pointing to an old package box in the corner of the room next to the TV stand.
"Ugh Daisy you're the best we couldn't have done this without you!" Brooklyn said, leaning in for a side squeeze.
I grabbed the remote off of the counter and opened up the TV to the Disney+ app. "Who's down to turn this into a little movie marathon?" I asked.
"Yes please, Tangled first," Goldie replied as we all snuggled into each other on the couch. Brooklyn, however, shot up to go make us all popcorn. I swear that girl had so much energy I don't know how she survived doing so much all the time.
