Dreams, dreams, dreams!
Dreams of life, dreams of love,
Dreams, dreams, dreams!
Dreams of health and wealth and fame,
Dreams, dreams, dreams!
Dreams turn into nightmares!
Desirable things for which we lust
Turn into things with teeth!
Dreams, dreams, dreams!
Hanging above our heads,
Swinging like a glittering pendulum
For which we reach!
Dreams!
Giving us hope as we reach for them,
Giving us hope 'til we grasp them,
And they slice our näive flesh!
Dreams, dreams, dreams!
We crush ourselves with dreams,
We die by the hand of imaginings.
