Sunday's weather was sunny and quite dry. Adeline chose a simple outfit for the race – a black top with a leather jacket, combined with jeans and comfortable sneakers. It wasn't really her style, she obviously felt more like herself in a pantsuit, but she admitted to herself that it wasn't quite suitable outfit for a race.
An hour before the race start, Adeline was enjoying the AlphaTauri's hospitality, sitting in the lobby with a Gin Fizz in her hand. So far, her experience at the race weekend was awesome, and she kind of regretted not doing it before. She finally got to spend some quality time with Pierre, she visited some of the famous places in Barcelona, met new people, found time to work, and she also relaxed for the first time in years.
"Hey! Aren't you Adeline?" A smooth, unknown female voice asked somewhere behind Adeline. She turned her head and saw a very beautiful woman with raven-black hair, cute smile and olive skin.
"Yes, that's me, but you can call me Addy. And you must be Lily," Adeline figured, since Alex had told her about his girlfriend that was supposed to be at today's race.
"I'm so excited to meet another girl in the paddock, Alex said that you are the most sassy and funny person he has ever met!" she laughed, sitting next to Adeline. She seemed like the kind of bubbly person that never stops smiling. It was contagious.
"Well, I have my good moments," Adeline said, sipping from her perfectly mixed drink. She needed that exclusive bar in her own apartment. "Who am I kidding, I'm amazing," she curled her lips into a smirk.
"I can already tell that!" Lily agreed, bursting into laughter along with Adeline. "So, you're Pierre's best friend, right? Did you two ever...?" Lily asked curiously with a grin on her face. Adeline didn't understand her question at first, but she realized the meaning quickly.
"Oh, hell no! He's like my annoying older brother, it would feel like, I don't know, incest?!" Adeline wrinkled her nose in disgust. "I do like Game of Thrones, but not that much," she added. Ew, she wasn't even able to simply imagine her and Pierre together. It felt weird to picture something like that.
"I'm glad. I mean, it would be a shame not having you around anymore in case of a break-up. Good thing that you're only friends. You know how badly Pierre's relationships end up." Lily rolled her eyes, which made Adeline nod in agreement. She simply couldn't get over Pierre and Kate going their separate ways.
"Disaster! Although, my love life is a disaster too. I'm single as a Pringle," Adeline admitted, thinking for a second about the guys she had been with. She dated four guys in total – the first relationship lasted two years, she was only 17 and he was slightly older. The rest of the guys were dating Adeline only for a few months, and she was always the one to call it quits. Including the very first relationship, which was definitely the worst one.
"Well, good for you, this place is full of attractive guys!" Lily proposed, disturbing Adeline from being completely somewhere else in her mind. Thank God, she didn't want to think about her first relationship.
"Oh no, I think I'm better off alone, at least I can focus on my career," Adeline objected. She wasn't looking for a man, she felt more comfortable alone. No one was bothering her, and she had time for herself and work. "But to be honest, and I don't normally say this, you and Alex are goals. You two are so adorable together!"
"You're so sweet," Lily's cheeks turned pink, she was blushing like a little girl. Adeline thought that it was so adorable. She felt like throwing up watching other cringey couples, but this was different. When Lily and Alex were talking about each other, their eyes always lit up. Maybe love existed after all.
"We should probably go wish luck to the guys, their race starts in an hour," Adeline looked at her watch with a maroon leather band, which Pierre gave her last year for her graduation. It was certainly expensive, but Pierre never looked at a price when he was buying something for Adeline.
