I wake up to a stench. The smell of blood and something rotten.
I slowly open my eyes to find myself trapped in a cage.
The cage can only fit one human and gives me enough space to stand straight, but I'm pretty short so I'm lucky.
With my eyelids still so heavy, I struggle to keep my eyes open. That was until I heard a familiar voice call out my name.
"Anna? Anna!"
I look over to my right to see my brother, Cole. He was trapped in a cage that looks exactly like mine. Because he's taller than me, his head is almost touching the top. He's 6'1 and I'm 5'4.
My expression changed from worried to relieved when my eyes locked onto Cole. At least I'm not alone. His cage was covered in dried up blood and my expression changed again as I became so scared.
He was looking at me with a panicked expression. He must be worried about me as much as he is about himself.
We took the time to calm each other down before we heard another voice.
"Hello? Anyone here?"
"Yeah we're here." Cole replied.
It was a woman, she looked like she was in her 30s. She had her brown hair tied in a messy bun. Her fringe was at a nice length; just covering her eyebrows.
"We're here." I said.
"Oh thank god," she said "Where are we?"
We both shrugged.
I realised she had to keep looking left and right as me and Cole were far away from each other. We were on the same side of the room whilst the woman was on the other but between our cages.
"I'm Clover." she said, breaking the silence that felt a lot longer than a minute.
"I'm Anna," I said "And he's my younger brother, Cole."
Cole waved at her.
She waved back at him "Nice to meet you two."
We nodded in her direction at the same time. She was probably convinced we were twins when we're not.
I'm 22. I have long blonde hair. It's boring though because it's naturally straight. The length is exactly on my tits, my bra size being a B if you're interested. I'm fit; I go on daily jogs so my stamina is fairly good. I've also lifted weights so I have a bit of muscle.
Cole's 20 and pretty much looks just like me. Straight blonde hair that he has at shoulder length. He's also fit, more fit than I am; he goes on two jogs a day and lifts weights everyday so his stamina is also really good.
Suddenly we heard a bang. We all shot our eyes in the direction of the bang.
It was a guy banging against the cage. He was screaming nothingness and banging as hard as he could against the door. It seemed like he couldn't stand straight. His legs were shaky and it seemed like he was going to fall on his ass any minute.
"Hey dude, chill out," Cole called out "You'll hurt yourself!"
The guy continued to scream and bang against the cage.
"I think he's drunk." Clover said, her tone lower than before.
The man did look drunk, I'd know because it's funny watching Cole when he's drunk. He looks mid 40s or early 50s. The man is very wrinkly and I get the impression he's an alcoholic, possibly a smoker too. He's bald and his eyebrows are a dark brown with grey strands hidden within his thick eyebrows.
The three of us looked at each other before looking back at the nameless drunk man. We're hopeless.
"Will you shut up banging already?! I'm trying to sleep!" a voice shouted at the drunk man.
We looked over towards the source of the mystery voice to find a girl in another cage.
"Is it just us five?" Cole asks.
"Seems like it." Clover replies.
I look around to see if there are anymore of us but it seemed it was just us five.
The girl looked around 16. I also like her attitude, suits her possible age. She has her very long black hair in a loose ponytail, and it was a messy one. She's wearing quite a bit of gothic makeup too, found her area of style, nice.
We all look at each other to find we're all wearing the same, dull grey jumpsuit. Except Clover was also wearing a pale pink scarf.
"Where even are we?" the girl asked.
"Your guess is as good as mine." Clover replied.
Excluding the drunk nuisance, we all introduced each other and gave our ages: Clover is 33 and the girl is named Doris, she's 17.
Suddenly, a key dropped from... the ceiling? It landed in front of Cole's cage. It had a note attached so he grabbed the key and read the note out loud.
"Dear prisoners; unless you're the wasted dude in the corner, you may have realised none of you are home. You're currently trapped in cages that can fit people that are 6'3. Luckily for all of you, none of you are that height or you would have a sore neck. I've observed you all since you've been here and I'm bored of waiting so Cole, go ahead and let everyone out. X"
"Well no shit we're not home, currently we're on the brink to possibly dying."
"That was a bit dramatic." Clover smirked.
Doris gave her a dirty look before rolling her eyes.
Before we knew it, we were all out of the cages, except the drunk guy.
"I'm tempted to leave him in the cage."
Until we heard this irritating ringing sound that went through one ear and out of the other.
"Never mind!" Cole, a little scared, then unlocks the guy's cage. After he was released, the ringing stopped.
Clover jumped as she turned behind her. We all looked in her direction when we saw an exit to this bloody room "That wasn't there before." she claimed.
We were all shook but we also needed to leave so we made our way out of the bloody room.
