Jules's POV

*******

Ring, ring, ring.

Honestly, who is calling me right now?

"Hello?" I pick up my phone after reading the caller ID. It's Lily.

"Are you seriously still not out of bed?!" Lily yells into my ear.

"Don't scream, please." I stand up from my bed and walk over to the bathroom. "And yes. You woke me up. What's the time anyway?"

"Girl, you seriously need a sleep schedule along with an alarm clock by your bed." She says as she requests a video call. With a groan, I accept. "Don't groan at me. I'm just helping you get ready."

"Ready?" What is she talking about?

"I swear to god, Jules. It's the first day of school." She sighs and I immediately wake up.

"Oh, shit!! I totally forgot." Shit, shit, shit. Where's my shirt?! "Wait, are you picking me up?"

"Yes. I'm coming over in 15 minutes." She shuffles around and I hear keys in the background.

"Ok. Well, see you in 15. Byeeee!" I throw my phone on my bed and make my way back into the bathroom.

I wash my teeth and brush my hair. I pick out my clothes and put my iPad in my shoulder bag. I'm honestly so grateful that our school doesn't use paper notebooks. My back would die. I go back into the bathroom and do a check if I have everything and go down the hall. The smell of pancakes hits me in the kitchen. I walk around the corner and see Mom baking and humming.

"Good morning, honey. You ready?" She doesn't even turn to know I'm standing there. I'm guessing Lily texted her.

"Morning, Mom. As energetic as ever, I see." I place my bag next to my chair and take the already made pancakes to my plate.

"Well, your dad took off before I got the batter done so I get to visit him today. And Billy has been good this morning." My mom places another well done pancakes onto the pile.

My mom is kind of a stay at home mom. But from time to time, she visits the bakery and helps them out. Billy is my 6 year old brother who is the devil himself. He loves trouble and pancakes. I guess he is in a good mood today. Speaking of the devil.

"Moooom! Where's my math book?" He doesn't see me and gives Mom his undivided attention.

"I think I saw it on under your bed." I clear my throat and he turns to me. I get a glare like I just ruined his whole week. "I walked by your room."

"Thank you, Jules." Mom puts another pancake down. "Ok, that should be the last one. Billy, let's get you ready."

"I'm going with Lily. I'll see you after school." I take another pancake and put my bag on my shoulder. I walk to the door and open it. As soon as I do, Lily slows down in front of our driveway. I'm about to leave, I remember. "Oh right! Billy!!"

"What do you want?!" He storms towards me in his little robe.

"Be nice to Mom, please. And don't punch Jake. I know he's a little you-know-what but he had his nose broken enough times." Billy scoffs but nods in agreement. "Bye, Mom!"

"Bye, sweetie!!" I hear my mom yell from the bathroom.

I shut the door and walk over to Lily's huge ass jeep. It's a white one, but it used to be an olive green. I liked the green but I guess white is good. I sit in the passenger seat and let Lily ramble about all the things she wants to do this year.
