Everybody was sitting in de Quinjet. After the avengers defeated Ultron, there came a few new members. Peter was sitting next to you, across from you were Kate, Yelena, Pietro and Wanda. Tony was flying the Quinjet, with Steve and Bruce by his side. Natasha was sitting with Matt and Clint, and Thor sat by Vision, and Wade was sitting with Eddie and Marc. Sam and Bucky were sitting together, not looking really happy with each others company.
This was your first big mission with the new team. The new members joined 7 months ago, and you guys trained a lot. A lot. Like a lot. Almost every day you had to train. You trained in combat, in improving your skills, doing cardio, training your powers, working together. 19 people was a lot, but you made it work.
This mission was very important. This was your chance to finally take down Hydra for good. Fury told the team this 2 weeks ago, and you planned everything in detail. Nothing can go wrong. That's also the reason there was a lot of tension between everybody. Nobody dared to speak. Everybody was just staring in front of them, breath heavy and mind somewhere completely else.
The first hour of the flight, you were playing with your powers. You have cosmic manipulation, and in your opinion, it looks awesome. Twirling the magic around the fingers, you could keep yourself entertained.
The next hour, you were overthinking everything. All the ways you could mess up, all the ways this important mission could go wrong, all the ways you could let everyone down.
The hour after that, you tried to have a conversation with Peter. All you could get was a glance and a small smile. You couldn't blame him, he was always nervous about missions. You said that everything would be just fine, and you were always there for him. This earned you a somewhat bigger smile, but still not a word.
So now you were here, doing absolutely nothing. You have overthought everything, down to you getting on fire, Venom eating your head off and Wade trying to give you blood so you can heal. Then, something pops in your mind. Your AirPods! You dug into your pocket and took the case. It was almost a relief that you remembered this. Music was everything to you. You normally listen to music day and night, playing your guitar and singing along. You put in your AirPods and let After Hours from the Weeknd play. Lightly bobbing your head along, the song ended. And then you heard the familiar sound. You heard Matt chuckle, and you smiled.
"What is it?" asked Natasha, who was the first person who spoke this whole flight. "Oh nothing, ask Y/N" answered Matt.
My smile widened, and Peter looked at me. I saw Kate frown and Yelena stared at me with confusion.
I waited until the lyrics began, and now Pietro and Wanda were also looking at me. I took a sharp breath, and began singing.
"Who's strong and brave, here to save the American Way?" I heard Peter laugh, and all the other 14 heads turned to me, with all a slight smile on their faces. "Oh god", I heard Bruce say.
"Who vows to fight like a man for what's right night and day?" Tony smirked, and looked at Steve, who was looking really annoyed.
"Who will campaign door-to-door for America". Now Peter joined me.
"Carry the flag shore to shore for America". Now Wanda, Pietro, Yelena and Kate joined us.
"From Hoboken to Spoken" we all sang loudly. "The star spangled man with a plan!" Now Bucky and Sam also sang along.
"We can't ignore there's a threat and a war we must win", Tony and Natasha joined us too.
"Who'll hang a noose on the goose-stepping goons from Berlin?" Clint, Wade, and even Matt joined us. I was surprised everybody knew the lyrics of this song.
"Do we really have to d..." Steve was interrupted by the whole team. "Who will indeed lead the call for America, who'll rise and fall, give his all for America, who's here to prove that we can!" Steve's head hang low, as we all proudly sang. "The star spangled man, with a plan!"
We sang the whole song, and you were surprised about how good it sounded.
"Damn, they should make a pitch perfect movie for us", commented Wade. The team chuckled.
"Haha guys, very funny, can you please focus on the mission now?" "Oh Steve don't be such a baby", responded Sam. "Yeah star spangled man", said Bucky with a smirk. "Oh fuck off!" "LANGUAGE!" we all said at the same time, and everybody laughed. You got a warm feeling, suddenly, you weren't so nervous anymore.
