Olivia walked down the front steps and went into her car. She put in her key and slowly turned it, turning on her car. She instantly heard music, and started singing along.
She drove home, which was only about 10 minutes away on the other side of their small town.
"Momma?" she said, walking into her house. "Momma, I'm home for supper! Why'd you want me to come?"
"Hi darling. Hi hi hi. Good good good, you're home." Her mom kissed her daughter's cheek and walked down the hall towards the kitchen.
"Come come, sit down. I've missed you."
She walked into the kitchen, finding a glorious smell.
"It smells great, momma, what's for supper?" she said as she sat at the other end of the table.
Her mother as old, she was in her early 60's right now. Olivia was adopted, so it didn't really feel weird to her that she was that old.
"We are having pork chops. Yum yum, right? Yes. I bought them special from your favorite store!"
"Albert's? Oh momma, I love Albert's!" She grabbed a large piece with her fork and put it on her plate.
She stabbed her pork and began cutting it.
She took small spit of her water before her mother had began to speak.
"Oli, oh how to put this, well, you're going to live with Stacy."
Olivia spit out her water all over the table. "I'm WHAT! But momma! Wait, why? Is everything okay?" She had the look of concern in her eyes. "How long."
"Until you die, sweetums." Her mother looked a bit tired. After all she is old and ill.
"I actually. Um. Olivia." She grabbed her hands across the table. "There Is no easy way to say this, so I'm just going to say this, okay?"
"Momma, what is it?"
"I have cancer, baby. But before you start cryin', just remember I'll always be here with your heart. I'm selling everything, and living in the hospital until I die. So I set up for you to live with Stacy. Is that okay, hun? Of course it is. You'll love it."
Her old, winkled hands slowly grabbed her cup of water, taking tiny sips from it.
"But momma!" Olivia pleaded. "You can't die! No. No. I don't believe this. This is just a bad dream." She plugged her ears. "La la la, wake up! Wake up! Olivia wake up! La la la la!"
Olivia's mom walked out of the kitchen so she could let Olivia be alone for her dinner.
Olivia brought her knees up to her chest. "I'm suddenly not hungry anymore." She whispered to herself.
She stood up and ran outside. She took her car keys and drove away so fast, you couldn't even tell.
"No. No no no!" Olivia yelled at her self as she got stopped at a red light. She rested her head on the steering wheel.
She noticed the light turn green and she quickly kept driving.
She drove and drove and drove, until she ended up at the lake. Her favorite lake. Her lake.
The lake was her grandfathers, biological, and he had named it after her.
She parked her car and walked over towards the water, sitting next to the giant willow.
She looked at her reflection in the water, and couldn't help but cry again.
She sat there for what seemed like hours. There was no sun no more. It was just Olivia and the stars. No moon. No anything. Just big, gorgeous stars.
Olivia felt her phone ring. She took it out to reveal a text from Stacy.
"Come here. Now. I need you."
Olivia ran towards her car and started driving towards Stacy's house.
