Master David was...
Hot. Enough so that when he smiled at Briar as he took a seat, his heart trembled. It was so unfair, he thought, for a human being to be so attractive. Wide shoulders covered with a flowy, white shirt, three buttons undone, and sleeves rolled up to reveal thick forearms of a light sandy tone.
As attractive as he was though, no one could hold a candle to Briar's lovers, who he found the sexiest people on the planet.
Mistress Eve left not long after discussing something to do with event planning, a wink thrown his way as the door closed behind her, and since then the two men had been left in a fairly awkward silence. How could it not be, with Briar refusing to look up from his fidgeting fingers laying in his lap and feeling the concentrated stare of the middle-aged man across from him burrow into his face.
"You know..." a deep baritone began, trailing off before beginning again, "when my good friends mentioned they had begun dating someone new, I had been sceptical. They are quite wealthy, attractive and kind-hearted people who, with the wrong person with wrong intentions, could be left very hurt. And in all honesty, I agreed to meeting you today with the expectation of giving you a bit of a hard time- a test, if you want to call it that".
Briar relaxed. As odd as it was, he suddenly felt a lot more comfortable. Yes, this man was watching him with judging, evaluating eyes, but he did so to protect his friends. Friends who Briar loved very much. It was comforting to know they had someone like Master David watching their backs because it was terrifyingly that true some people would wish to exploit them.
And he would never let that happen.
"But now, I don't really feel the need to. It seems a bit far-fetched for a man so submissive and shy that he can't look above the table's edge to secretly be a manipulative asshole. And believe me, I've met enough of those types of people to know how sneaky they can be. In fact, you seem as sweet and adorable as those lovers of yours have mentioned- and they mention you a lot".
He flushed heavily, making a small sound of embarrassment before covering his face. They talked about him to their friends? Gosh, it was so mortifying considering he didn't know any of their friends, but also incredibly flattering that they were proud to show him off rather than keeping him a secret. They actually seemed proud, as was he to belong to them.
"Now that's been cleared up, let's get down to business. You contacted me for submission training, is that still what you want?".
Forcing his eyes up, Briar nodded and cleared his throat before speaking. "I know Devon could train me and it would probably be a good thing if he did. But he's been so busy lately with a new work project and... and part of me doesn't want to be trained by him".
"Oh?" Master David raised his eyebrows in shock, leaning back in his chair, "mind telling me why?".
"He worries about me. A lot, which I really love, but it does feel like it gets in the way of him seeing me as ready to accept him as my dominant. But if I can show him that I've really thought about this, that I've put effort and time in, taken the initiative, hopefully he will accept that I can take belonging to him".
"You don't think it will bother him that he won't be the one to train you?".
This was the issue that had been rolling around Briar's head, keeping him awake at nights as he stared into the dominant in question's face. Would this decision possibly create a rift between them? Would this mean he would miss out on important bonding between Sub and Dom that can only be created during training?
So naturally, he sought advice. From Jesse, who was the only one of his lovers who actually knew he had been thinking about doing this. And should Master David agree to the training, the little fox would be the only person he told. Well, and Stephen who he had plans to meet up with soon. That man loved poking his nose into Briar's dating business at every opportunity, so there was no way he wouldn't find out.
