"You took a pretty hard hit out there tonight. Can you talk to us about regrouping after such a hard foul?" David from NBC asked, holding his recorder close to Jennie.

"Well," Jennie chuckled, shifting the ice bag wrapped against her shoulder. "I think the Canadians missed the memo about this being a friendly. But it wasn't hard to regroup. We expected them to be out for blood tonight."

"The rivalry between both teams is probably the most storied part of women's hockey history. What are you expecting in these upcoming Olympic Games?"

Jennie took a sip of her Biosteel recovery drink, weighing her words before speaking.

The rivalry between Canada and the U.S. in any sport was epic. On the ice, between women who shared collegiate teams and professional teams, the rivalry went beyond epic.

It was legendary.

In the Sochi Olympics, the Canadians fought back from 2-0 to beat the U.S. 3-2 in overtime. Jennie watched her teammates collapse to the ice in defeat when Canada netted the final goal from her spot in the penalty box. They'd assured her the penalty, and the loss wasn't her fault. It was a shit cross-checking call that led to the Canadian power play and eventual goal. But Jennie bore the weight of the disappointment on her shoulders as she went back to Boston University. The fire that the silver medal ignited within her helped her win a National Championship in her last year for the Terriers.

In PyeongChang four years later, the U.S. got their revenge and won Gold. Jennie scored twice that game and delighted in the skate around the rink with the U.S. flag around her shoulders, vindication swirling through her.

Two years later, she got to repeat the skate after the 2020 World Championships and her team's win against Canada. Given what took place in that game, an overtime goal called back for Canada and a shootout that the U.S. won, she was sure that was the reason behind Canada's brutal demeanor tonight.

"I expect Gold, David," Jennie grinned, confident in herself and in her team. "Canada is a solid team, but like we showed tonight, we're not going to be out-shot or out-skated. We're going for Gold again."

"Good luck," David chuckled, pulling his mic away from Jennie and shutting off his recorder.

"Thanks so much," she replied, capping her Biosteel drink and standing up from the chair.

"Thanks for taking time to answer. You're a lot less brusque than Manoban was," David joked as he picked up his gear.

"She's a little heated after failing to score," Jennie chuckled. "Always has been, even in Boston. Broke her stick our senior year when her shot hit the pipe in the NCAA Championship final and us Terriers got the win."

"If she's that heated after a tie, I'll be intimidated if I'm set to interview her after a loss," David grinned.

"Start mentally preparing for the Gold medal game then. She's going to be a wreck," Jennie said with a smile.

"I love the confidence," David replied. "Thanks again for the interview."

Jennie nodded and grabbed her gear bag and stick from the floor of the hockey arena, walking away from the designated media area. She winced as the ache in her shoulder got a little worse from the weight of her bag.

She walked through the Lake Placid arena toward the back parking lot, passing some Team USA administrators and giving them big smiles. She waved goodbye to a few of her teammates and stepped out the back door, immediately met with posters and fans all decked out in red, white, and blue.
