the hairy potter

THE summer was nearly over.

apparently, that usually meant this world me would have to go to the american witchcraft and wizardry school, ilvermorny, but it was decided that this year i would transfer schools and go overseas to hogwarts per my "amnesia".

when it dawned on me that i was in the world of harry potter, i nearly collapsed from the excitement. though it had been long since i had read or watched the series, it was still a super important fandom i had been part of that practically shaped my future fandom lifestyle.

supposedly, in this world, i was some prodigy witch who learned advanced super quickly in her first year and was able to skip a year. i tried out some spells just to see if i could, and surprisingly the movements and words came naturally to me like muscle memory.

my parents were filthy rich 'cause my mom, elizebeth, was descended from this really famous and pureblood family. she fell in love with my clutz of a dad when she met him at ilvermorny and they eventually married and had me. it worked out perfectly because my dad was pureblooded and so my mom didn't have to be put into an arranged marriage like a lot of her ancestors, including her own parents.

i had stayed 16, thankfully, but the year had changed drastically, from 2023 to 1996. it was a twenty-seven-year leap. all of the technology i had grown up with was suddenly non-existent or replaced with their ancient versions. the phones were kind of cool, looking like little calculators or those fake barbie phone toys.

everything was so crazy, but i'd felt happier than i had ever been in my entire life. the only thing that could make me happier was getting a significant other, but the chances of that were slim. i wasn't even extremely beautiful like my mom, elizebeth, or charmingly cute like my dad, louis. i was content with what i had, though. not only did i get to know two people as my parents, i could also fulfill a childhood dream i thought would never come true- going to the hogwarts.

i laid in the inn's bed in london with a smile stuck on my face, imagining the activities that would happen the next morning. we would go to diagon ally to get all my school supplies and my new robes and explore both the muggle and wizarding sides of london until my school started. though it was cold and foggy in the city, there was still much i adored about it. the whole place just radiated comforting energy to me. slowly my eyes closed and i drifted off to sleep.

the street was bustling with life, crowded with students and their families getting school supplies. my excitement overpowered my discomfort at the busy atmosphere as i skipped from shop to shop, my parents hot on my trail. i went into madame malkins first, for my robe. madame malkins was a kind woman; always making sure that she fitted a robe for me carefully so as to not make me uncomfortable.

she had stabbed me with the needle a few times, but i ignored it, trying not to cause a scene or disturbance. she'd asked me some questions at first, wondering why she'd never seen me before to get my robes. i'd told her that i was going to transfer this year to hogwarts from ilvermorny. she stemmed our conversation off of that, her asking me questions and making some comments every now and then at my responses.

after i had bid goodbye to madame malkins i skipped over to flourish and blotts, carefully examining my list of books and picking out the best ones. my parents had left me before, telling me they'd meet up with me after i was done with my shopping before giving me a bag of the big ass coins to use to pay.

i'd found every single book on my list except for this one stupid book that was obviously extremely required, since the world hates me.  i gave up when i couldn't find it for the billionth time and headed over to a table and dropped down on a chair, defeated. the pile of books i had already found were stacked before me and i skimmed through them wistfully, my annoyance growing as time passed. i sighed as i glared at the title of the book i couldn't find, wanting to rip the list up and throw it away.
