Chapter 17

It was about a couple years later. Emily and Zaiden had had a good life together so far. They loved each other dearly. Emily and Zaiden were having breakfast, when Emily suddenly felt sick. "Emily? Are you alright?" Zaiden asked in concern. "I'll be right back..." Emily responded, getting up and rushing to the bathroom. Zaiden stood up and followed her. He stood outside the door. When Emily came out, he put his hand on her shoulder. "We're going to the doctor. This is the third time this has happened in the past week and a half. I doubt it's Amara's cooking." Zaiden spoke of his cook. She was a good cook and had been serving him for years and had continued to do so after Emily had joined the family. "I know...I guess your right..I'll get ready.." she replied. "Please tell Amara I'm sorry. I just couldn't finish my food." she smiled sheepishly and went to their room. Zaiden sighed. "I hope everything's ok..." he mumbled, going to the kitchen.

 And hour later, the two were sitting in the doctor's office in Emily's home town. They waited anxiously for the test results to come back. Within ten minutes, he returned, holding a clipboard, a smile on his kind face. "Congratulations, Zaiden, Emily. You are going to have a baby." he told them. It took a second to register in their minds, but as soon as it did, they broke into smiles and hugged the doctor. "Thank you! Thank you so much!" Emily cried. "How far along are we?" Zaiden asked. "I can't say for sure. We'd have to wait for the rest of the tests to come in. But I will call you as soon as they are in." "Thank you, sir. Thank you so much." "Of course. And congratulations again." the kindly doctor replied, going to check on other patients. Zaiden and Emily left as happy as can be. They talked and talked about names, shopping, what gender the baby would be, and who it would look like. When they returned, they told the servants, who erupted with congratulations for the couple. Zaiden said he had some work to finish soon after they'd gotten back, so he kissed her and told her he'd see her later. Emily went to her room and called Robin. "Hello?" Robin answered her phone. "Robin, it's Emily. How are you?" "Oh, Emily! I'm doing well! How about you?" "Oh, Robin, I'm so happy. I'm going to have a baby!" "Oh, Emily! Congratulations! How far along are you?" "I'm not sure. We're waiting for more tests to come in." Emily explained. The two talked for a while before saying goodbye. After Emily had hung up, she called Anna. "Hello?" Anna's voice came over the phone. "Hey, Anna! It's Emily. How have you been?" "Emily! I've been good. How about you?" "I couldn't be better, Anna. I'm pregnant!" "Wait, seriously?! Congrats Em!" "Thank you, Anna." Emily smiled. They talked for a while before hanging up. "Miss Emily! I have some lunch ready if your hungry!" Amara, the cook called. "Alright, I'm coming!" Emily had thought about calling Cheri and Sean, but wanted to tell them with Zaiden, so she decided to wait. Emily went down to lunch. A few hours later, Zaiden came into the living room and sat beside his wife. "How did it go?" she asked. "It went well. I'm hoping to get ahead in my work so by the time the baby is born I can spend more time with you." Emily smiled. "That would be nice, Zaiden." she replied. "Oh, I talked to Anna and Robin. They said congratulations." "Well, next time you talk to them, thank them for me." Zaiden replied. "Did you talk to my sister or Sean?" Emily shook her head. "I thought we could face time them together and tell them." "I think that's a good idea." Zaiden nodded. "We can do it now of you like." "That'd be fine, Zaiden." Emily replied. Emily went to their room and soon returned with her phone. She sat beside Zaiden. "Who do you want to call first?" she asked. "We can talk to Sean first. My sister is going to be so excited she won't want to put down the phone." the two laughed. Zaiden and his sister had gotten closer over time. It was as if they'd grown up together. The two called Sean. "Hey, Emily! Hi, Zaiden! What's up?" Sean answered. "Hi, Sean. We just wanted to call and tell you something exciting." Emily replied. "What is it?" "Sean, we're going to have a baby." Zaiden said with a smile. "Seriously?? Oh my goodness Congratulations!" Sean exclaimed. "Thank you, Sean. So how have you been?" "I've been good." Sean replied. The three talked a while before saying goodbye. Next, they called Cheri. "Hi, Zaiden, Emily! it's good to see you!" Cheri waved at them. "It's good to see you, sis." Zaiden replied. "So, how've you guys been?" "We've been good. We actually just found out something important and exciting today." Emily told her. "Really? What is it?" "Cheri, you are going to be an aunt." Zaiden announced. Cheri dropped her phone in shock. "Sis? You there..?" Zaiden stared at the screen. In a moment, it was back to normal. "Sorry about that. I dropped the phone. You say I'm going to be an aunt..??" "Yes, Cheri." Emily smiled. "Oh, congratulations, brother! Emily! This is amazing!" she cheered. "We know. We are very excited." "How far along are you?" "We aren't sure. We're waiting for some tests to come back." "Sir Zaiden! Miss Emily! Dinner is ready!" the cook called. "Alright, Amara! We're coming!" Zaiden responded to the woman. "Sorry, sis. We gotta go. We'll talk to you later." "K! Bye, Zaiden! Bye Em!" they hung up and went for dinner.
