in the caves that led to the Dragon Nests.Wet air filled with the pungent smell of fire and something animalistic hung heavy in the air.
Growls and hiss of dragons far away could be heard echoing like a warning in the hallowed walls of the cave, sending thrills up Balora Greywood’s spine as she walked down the slick and uneven obsidian floors of the cave.
‘You go alone Riña, you claim Zaldrīzes alone.’ Aeron’s voice had been like broken rocks to her ears when he firmly told her this when he had handed her a small torch from the wall next to the entrance of the cave. His dark beetle-black eyes stared her down as she took the blue-flamed torch in her nervous hand from his soot-covered ones.
Without a look back, Balora had climbed into the large dragon cave by herself as dictated by her house's tradition. Her feet carried her into the unknown, all in the hope of taking a dragon for her own. The caves, dark and dreary, did very little to ease her nerves or excitement that brewed deep in her belly as she felt herself growing closer to the lair of dragons. As she grew closer, the louder the sounds of snarling and growls of primordial beasts became in her sensitive ears.
