The Big Meet

     Work had just let out for Ember. He was walking down the busy sidewalk heading home, everyone running passed him to get to where they were going, staying near the walls with his eyes glued to the ground trying to keep himself up right with the heavy winds fighting him. His mind was racing from the day he just had. Today had been pretty stressful for him, nothing going the way it was planned. His phone rang signaling he had received a text. Thinking nothing of it he pulled out his phone to read the text. It was from the only person that made his life worth living. Before he could read the first line of the message he ran smacked into someone a hot drink spilling on both of them and all over his phone causing him to quickly flinch dropping the phone. "Fuck fuck fuck im so so sorry I didnt see you coming" Ember was quick to say not missing a beat. A growl left the lips of the male covered in coffee in front of him. "Were you not paying attention?! Are you going to buy me another drink?!" The taller male growls. The stranger's 6 foot frame towered over his 5 and a half foot self, shivers running down his spine by the stranger's presence. Ember just looked down, not saying anything backing up a little. The males friends stood in the back watching them not saying a word knowing better. "I asked you something,'' the male said. "Oh um yes sir! I'll pay for another drink. I just um my roommate texted and I was looking and-" Before Ember could finish the male cut him off. His eyes softened from the hard glare. While he male tried explaining he got to actually look at Ember. Something about him being scared felt different than everyone else. "You know what, don't worry about it" He said and walked away. His friends stood there shocked. "Lets go" He growls at his friends who quickly straighten themselves and follow. "Ace Stay and make sure he makes it home safe and gets clean up. I want updates" He said softly and one male stopped following. "Yes sir," He said and walked back to Ember. Ember was confused and went to pick up his phone but before he could Ace quickly grabbed it and handed it to him. "I had it," Ember said and started to walk towards his house. Ace said nothing and followed behind him. Ember kept looking behind him at Ace. "You can stop following me now," Ember said softly, again with no answer. "Hello, are you listening??" Ember said again, getting annoyed. Ace looked at him then looked away. "My boss gave me rules I do nothing but follow," Ace said with a stern voice. "Well who's your boss?" Ember asked. "I can't say," Ace said, not making eye contact. "What do you mean you can't tell me? You know him and you can talk so tell me" Ember said looking at Ace now. Ace sighs and ignores him again. "Fine I can do that too" Ember said, crossing his arms and looking away. The last 5 minutes walking home was quiet. Not one sound was made from either. Ember slowly unlocked the door and opened the door. Quickly walked through the door, Ember shut the door smacking Ace with it in the process. Thinking nothing of it Ember made their way to their room sitting on the floor beside their bed. Leaning against the bed Ember stared at the ceiling with a sigh before remembering he never texted his friend back. Quickly he grabbed his phone pressing call it ringing only twice before the person on the other end answer. "Em you ok? You never answer" the male on the other end quickly said. "Yeah yeah I'm ok. Just been really stressful at work then I ran into this really hot dude on the way home made him spill coffee on himself and just full out embarrassed myself" Ember said with a sigh standing up. He heard a while chuckle from the other end of the phone. "I'm sure it wasn't that bad did you get a name or anything?" Said the person on the other end. "No but he made his friend? Coworker? I don't know but he walked me home" ember said looking though his clothes to change out his work clothes. "Eh let's just ignore it and go hang out maybe get a drink or something I'll pick you up at 9" the male said. "Jay I'm 20 I can't drink" ember said rolling his eyes. "No you can't order but I can get you a drink or two" Jay said while shuffling around. "Find just this once ok?" Ember said
