The basement

𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘 i awoke, and i went downstairs as per usual. Father was here, reading the daily paper that had just been dropped  intensley

"Hi dad, watcha reading" i say, a blank expression plastered on my face.

"None of your fucking business" he spat towards me. God, if only i could take him out right now i would have been soo happy but i could never beat him in a fight. Especially when he is drunk.

"When are u off to work??" I ask, slurping some of my cereal.

"Oh im going after doing some cleaning in the basement. I will leave around 10am" he says with his beady grin looking at the basement

"Oh well i could help you clean" i suggested.

"NO GO TO YOUR ROOM BITCH" he yells

I know who he is but he doesnt know it yet. He is such a shit liar. Im gonna save robin its today or never

I went to my room and slammed the door behind me. I began thinking about robin, he is gonna be so happy when he thinks its me opening the door but its really.... Him. But then i remembered that yesterday i stole dads keys so he cant get in

"SCARLETT DO YOU KNOW WHERE MY KEYS ARE??" Father yells from the top of his lungs

"NO FATHER, I WILL CHECK MY ROOM THOUGH" i say, grinning because this is all going to plan. I will save me and robin today!

"I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD ILL JUST CLEAN THE BASEMENT LATER ITS WHATEVER" he slurrs before stumbling out the front door and locking it. I waited atleast 30 minutes before heading downstairs because if we were caught we would both be dead. I take my pocket knife with me just incase we get the surprise of a life time. My ugly ass father. I slowly walk downstairs, before coming face to face with robin

"Scar!" He says running up to me and hugging me i chuckle at him "heyy, now quick lets go!" I smirk before sneaking him upstairs. Locking doors behind me. I take robin up to my bedroom and then i get the phone from the hallway to ring the police.

"911, whats your emergency?"

"Hello, my names scarlett shaw and my dads the grabber, i found the latest missing boy in my basement but i have no trace on where the others are!" I say

"Is this a joke?" The help line says in disbelief

Suddenly a strong pair of hands take the phone and begin talking. I look up to meet my eyes with robins and he smiles at me

"No ma'am this is not a joke, my name us robin arrellano and i have just escaped from the house, my friend scarlett here has been trapped in this hell hole her whole life and wasnt allowed to leave so get us some fucking help please." He says before passing the phone to me

"My adress is 7712 on xxxx road" i say

"Right, we sent a police officer and a few detectives on your behalf kids, stay calm!"

The line ends. I turn back to robin who is looking at my books right now. He looks at me and now we are in the sunlight i can see his scars on his face

"Holy mother of god look at your scar!" I say running up to him , fixating my attention to his cheek. He looks out of my window and his precious smile drops.

"Scar... we have other company" he says pointing to my fathers van.

"Shit shit shit." I say hiding the keys in my drawer yet again and telling robin to hide somewhere before taking my pocket knife out and grasping it tightly.

"Holy shit ur not gonna stab him are you?" Robin whispers under his breath

"No, but it will scare his drunk ass away long enough for the police to get here" i say, a horrified look on my face is pulling me back but it has to be done

"SCARLETT! COME MAKE YOUR DAD SOME TEA FOR MY WORK IN THE BASEMENT!!" He yells, grinning ear to ear

"Father, i thought you lost the key.?" I say

"Oh i will find it at some point! Are you sure its not in your room?" He asks

"Yes daddy" i say, hiding my grin he goes down the first flock of stairs as i shut the door leading to the basement and locking it.

"ARELLANO!" I yell from the top of the stairs and robin comes out.

"We can go now, hes trapped" i grin as we run out of the front door

Suddenly, string sirens and blue and red lights are all our senses. Uncle max comes walking down the road whilst dad is being arrested and he stands there in disbelief.

"SCARSCAR , WHATS GOING ON?" He says, nervously chuckling

"Oh hi uncle max! So basically turns out that he is the grabber bc i found the missing boy in our basement! FUN!" I say sarcastically with robin next to me, his head rested on my shoulder.

"Uncle max?" I say

"Yeah scarscar?" He replies

"Can i stay with you because obviously i have nowhere to go?" I ask hoping for the best answer

"OFCOURSE SCARLETT!" He yells and i giggle as he walks away, back to his house. They dealt with all the boys and it was really sad. I felt so guilty because i could have saved them ten times earlier but i was too stupid to know. I hate myself. A tear drop slowly fell down my cheek and i sniffle causing robin to look my way. He seemed to read my mind and instantly comforts me

"Scarlett... don't blame yourself for what happened because it wasn't you, its never gonna be your fault i hope you know that" he says wiping the tear away and hugging me.

"ROBIN!" We hear yell from the distance, it was one if his friends and he ran up to him from a far distance

"Hey finn, what's happening?" He chuckles before hugging his teary eyed friend. The friend looking over his shoulder and sees me, watching my ugly dad get taken away, angry thoughts fill my head as he smirks, what a monster.

"Whos that robin?" He says pointing at me

"Long story short. Shes the daughter if the grabber but didnt know it until she met me and shes the one who got me out of here and basically saved me!" He says at rapid speed making me giggle in the slightest. I hop down and walk up to him

"Hi! Im scarlett nice to meet you" i say holding out my hand

" hey scarlett! Im finney" he says shaking my hand

"You werent that friendly meeting me!" Robin frowned

"Thats because you called me a bitch" i giggled out and everyone started laughing. Suddenly robins mum and i assume uncle ran over to him

"My baby oh my gosh are you okay?" His mum asked worriedly hugging him. He explains who i am to them and they hug me with no doubts. Such nice people . I was then sent inside to grab my stuff as they were taking the house for investigation.

I was quietly sobbing whilst packing my stuff and was too dumb to realise someone was waiting at the door for me

"You cant cry for every object you know?" Robin chuckles walking over to me

"Well its pretty hard not to cry when u find out ur dads a crazy murderer and now hes gone so im motherless and fatherless" i say trying to hide back my tears but they are just pouring out. Robin stands you up with him and pulls you into his embrace, warming you up as your hands rap around his waist and he rests his elbows on your shoulders, lightly kissing your forehead

"Its gonna be ok" he whispers in your ear and then you both pack your stuff together
