Cerys Strong was the bastard daughter of Lord Lyonel Strong. Like her older brothers, she had dark chestnut hair; with curly locks that hung past her shoulders. The color of her eyes was a shade of chartreuse, and she was blessed with her mother's beauty who was referred to as a whore, although, she seemed to embody her father's traits as well. Harwin, her eldest brother, raised her in the castle where she was later made the handmaiden of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.
At the birth of prince Joffery Targaryen, she was compelled to help the princess in any way she could. It was argued that such a child, a bastard, would be incapable of understanding the commitment. Even so, Cerys overcame the obstacles and proved worthy of the job, and the princess greatly admired her, even Aemond Targaryen.
