waking up was never easy for me. Hitting the snooze button a couple of times, I dragged my half-awaken body out of my comfortable and warm bed. Feeling my warm feet against the cold wooden floor, I shivered. Making my way to the bathroom, I freshened up. Going to my black and white elegant kitchen, I made myself a cup of black coffee. My body relaxed after the coffee hit my taste buds. Hearing my phone ring, I picked it up and read the name. It was Cole, my boss at the marketing company I work at (aka my richest best friend who got successful at the age of 24, imagine at fucking 24)

"Hello, what the hell do you want in this early, fine morning?"

"is that how you greet your best friend not to forget, who is also your boss?"

rolling my eyes I answered,

"save the sass, what happened cuz you never really call me this early in the morning."

I could hear his light chuckle

"you know me too well. come to work early today. I have something important to tell you"

"uhhhhhh, am I getting fired? hell no, I'm not getting fired today"

"Don't worry, you're not getting fired"

"ok fine. I'll come within an hour"

hanging up the phone, I saw the time "7:15". I've got precisely half an hour to get ready.

quickly getting ready, I put on a crème blouse with an off-white office skirt. Putting on my heels, I grabbed my car keys and went towards the elevator.

after parking my car in my office garage, I went inside, greeted the receptionist, Miles, and went to the elevator. Pressing the button on my floor, I went inside my office and opened the blinds, getting a clear view of the LA city. I put my bag down and got to work, going through the new files that were placed on my desk. I groaned when I looked at the huge pile of work that I have to do. Going through the files I realized that these file works were supposed to be done by Cole's lazy-ass assistant Grace, I don't even know why she is hired at this point. she always puts her work on others while bossing others and acting like she owns the fucking place. I called the desk and Miles answered.

"May I know where Mrs. Grace is today and why is her work sitting on my desk?"

Miles sighed and answered,

"she is having another of those days where she has serious family issues and has to stay at home"

I could practically picture him rolling his big doe eyes.

"I don't even fucking know why we have her at this point. I have to do all her work while she is just skipping everything and flirting with Cole even after knowing that he has been engaged for the past few months. God, she knows how to rile someone up."

"if the work is too much for you, I can arrange for someone else to help you with it"

"it's ok, I can finish it."

great now my whole cheery mood is ruined by that piece of shit. This has happened for the third time this week and it is only Wednesday. Feeling hella annoyed I got to work.

finishing the files took me about 2 hours approximately. I stretched, feeling my muscles relax a bit.

opening my email I saw too many unnoticed emails to count so I started answering and going through them.

finishing answering my emails I suddenly remembered that I was called by Cole. then I went to his office. knocking on the door, I opened it when I heard a grunt: "come in".

Going inside the office, the first thing I noticed was that there were papers scattered EVERYWHERE. Seeing him lift his head he looked at me and sighed. There he was sitting at the huge black, marbled table with a view of LA behind him. His head was full of blonde hair all messed up and sticking out in different ways. His face held a huge frown.

He looked at me and said,

"AS far as I remember, I called u a long time ago and you were supposed to come at least 1 hour ago"

I rolled my eyes and replied,

"well you see, I did arrive on time but after I entered my office, I noticed this huge ass pile of files sitting and waiting to be gone through which was your ass of an assistant's work but I had to finish it. this happened for the third time this week. her lame excuse is that she is having family issues which she has been having, since the time she joined your company. I don't know what benefit you get from having her in your office while others including me are doing all her work while she is skipping office days just for the sake of it. also, that pile was huge and very hard to go through. so yeah it took a while"

he chuckled

"guess you didn't have much of a good morning and you are ranting right now so I guess you are annoyed"

"beyond annoyed"

"well that's why I have you in my company, don't I? to help me handle all this shit."

rolling my eyes I asked,

"What was important that you wanted to tell?"

he slowly got up from his sit and walked to the windows and started speaking.

"well I don't think you will like this very much and you will probably be very angry at me but I have to tell you. you will have to know sooner or later"

"don't be that dramatic. you are making it sound like I am getting fired. wait, no shit am I getting fired? fuck no, I'm not getting fired today"

he chuckled

"no, you are not getting fired. you will never get fired from my company. what the fuck do you think I will do with all these dumb people at my company if I fired you?"

"true"

"The important thing is that I am actually moving out of the country and not only that but I am also closing off this company here."

I shot out of my seat as shock ran through my body and I screamed,

"what! what do you mean you are closing this COMPANY? You can't fucking do that, you spent so much of your hard work for this and now suddenly you are leaving like what-"

He cut me off

"Let me talk first then you can scream all you want. I am moving to France permanently because of my fiancé, as you know that I got engaged a couple of months ago"

my brain was still processing what I said but I nodded either way because I know that if I interrupt him too much or do not let him continue, he will get angry, and trust me you don't want to see Cole Bryant angry at the office and I could already tell that he was already frustrated.

he continued

"well I have decided to spend all of my time with her and I don't want this relationship to be a long-distance one. so I am moving there and leaving this company and shutting it off completely. so I am telling you this earlier as you are my most trusted and adored colleague who is also my best friend. I want you to find another job in the company. if you can't find one, I will try to get you one. it hurts me a great deal to leave this all behind but it is for the best. your service was amazing and you will be the one I will probably miss the most. but I wish you all the best and I know that with that talent of yours, you will be able to succeed"

I was shocked to say it was an understatement but I do understand his situation. LOVE does make you do some things which might not sound so good at the beginning, but in the end, love always wins.
