"Maya?" asked Charlotte as we sat in my new Toyota and drove to work. My left hand was on the steering wheel and my right was on her thigh. "What's up?" I asked as I came to a stop at a red light. "What if your team doesn't like me?" I laughed lightly. "I'm not going to lie to you, but after the stunt you pulled on Andy at the captain's exam, there's a good chance you won't be that popular at first. But don't worry, when they realize you're not a lieutenant on this watch, you'll be fine." In the corner of my eye, I saw Charlotte roll her eyes.

5 minutes later, I parked my car in the lot in front of the station and jumped out of the car. Charlotte followed me to the entrance. As I pressed the radio key that locked my car, I turned in that direction one last time.

As we entered the station, I saw Theo sitting at the front desk, frantically swiping on his smartphone. I stopped, looked at him, and waited for him to register me. Before that could happen, however, I heard my beloved captain calling me. "Bishop! Nice of you to finally grace us with your presence as well." I rolled my eyes and turned to Beckett. He grinned mischievously and his eyes fell on my girlfriend, who was standing next to me. "Charlotte Dearborn?" he asked. "At your service, Captain." I shook my head, annoyed.

"To my office." he said bluntly. Charlotte let go of my hand and followed him into his office. I noticed Theo staring at me. "What?" I replied to him, annoyed. "Oh nothing." he said, rummaging out some papers from one of the drawers. I scoffed and got moving to change.

When I got to the locker room I opened my locker and pulled out the last of my clean uniforms. Wow, I really should start washing. i took off my tshirt and pants and put on my work clothes.

"Line Up!" I heard Beckett yell. I sighed and as I ran into the barn I tried to button up the last three buttons on my uniform.

I stood between Theo and Andy and continued to fiddle with my top.

"Okay, as you all already know, we have a new team member . Charlotte Dearborn." Charlotte stood next to him with a big grin. I tried everything to suppress the annoyed eye roll. He put one of his hands on her lower back and guided her next to Theo. She gave him a grateful look and tensely stood up straight. "Okay, now that we've got that settled, let's get to the tasks. Bishop, Warren Aid Car. Herrera, Ruiz and Montgomery Ladder Hughes and Dearborn engine. Probie, Deskduty." As of today, we had a new probie with us. Mario Russo. He was one of the best in the Academy. And he's Italian. "Bishop, probie, toilet duty. Ruiz, Montgomery, Dearborn and Hughes cleaning duty in the barn, Herrera, Montgomery and Warren cleaning duty in the Beanery and the recreation rooms, especially the Gym. It smells like a cougar cage in there. You may go." With that, he dismissed us and we got to work.

"Maya-" I heard my girlfriend say behind me, but I ignored her. This was the fourth time in a row that I had to clean the showers and toilets. Without saying a word, I disappeared from the barn and gathered the cleaning things.

When I and Russo have brought all the necessary utensils to the bathrooms, we went to work. He filled the bucket with water and dumped cleaning agent into it, according to the motto, a lot helps a lot. When 1/3 of the bottle was already empty, I snatched it out of his hand. "What are you doing?" I asked annoyed. "Eh, I'm putting cleaning agent in-" he stammered, but I interrupted him. "I know what you're doing!" snapped I. "Are you going to dump the whole bottle in?" "Eh no, I'm sorry." he said meekly. "Don't you know how to clean?" I asked afterward. He didn't answer and I lifted the bucket to the floor and pushed the mop into his hand. I leaned against the sink and gestured with my hand for him to start. Tentatively he dipped the first 10cm into the water and then started to mop. I giggled slightly and took the mop from his hand again and with force I dipped him completely into the water. When it was dripping wet I got it out, gave it a few quick spins and handed it back to the rookie.
