Sean continued to hold her, while stroking her hair in his couch until she was drained all her energy from sobbing and the all day anxiety. She gradually got still, her breathing evened out and Sean knew she'd fallen asleep.
He kissed her hair and let out a long breath. Sean carried her to his room, careful to not wake her. He gently put her in his bed and pulled the cover tucking her in. He leaned and kissed her forehead drawing back when he felt her almost stirred.
"Ssh.. Sleep, Kayc. You have to rest after the thing I put you through today." He whispered.
Sean climbed up beside her at the other side of the bed. He glanced at the clock by his bedside table.
23:48
Despite his exhaustion, Sean felt like sleep didn't come as easily as it should have. He was pretty convinced during the drive to his apartment he thought to himself that he'd fall asleep as soon as he arrived. He turned his head at the sleeping figure beside him that was his best friend. She looked so peaceful in her sleep.
Sean felt this situation was all too familiar. It was just one year ago. Or was it one and half or even two years ago? Kaycee sleeping in his bed next to him was a regular occurrence back then. He would watch her sleep and he could stare at her face as long as he liked without her noticing. But then he realized that this was the first time Kaycee been in his bed in apartment after all. He noticed that the giant window in his current bedroom allowed moonlight to illuminate her facial feature. Angelic. Sean groaned at the thought he had for his best friend.
By somehow avoiding her, Sean had thought that his feelings would go away on its own. But today experiencing almost losing her and then watching her angelic sleeping figure beside him made him realize that all those attempts were ineffective at best for he still haven't gotten over his feelings for her yet.
Sleep finally caught up to him and the last thing he remembered was thinking how laying next to her gave him sense of calmness and tranquility. Like he couldn't even remember how falling asleep without her feels like.

Kaycee opened her her eyes slowly to find that she was not on her own bed. Instead of the usual soft pillow her head was resting on something hard. She tried to move but then realize that a strong arm was wrapped around her waist and her own arm was also resting on his upper abdomen.
Then she remembered the event that occurred last night. She didn't recall going back to her apartment. The last thing she remembered was Sean holding her on his couch as she cried herself to sleep the night before.
Sleeping with Sean had not been something she had never done before. In fact, it was not out of the ordinary. There was something beside the fact that they hadn't been like this in a long time, it was also about their current position that made Kaycee blushed. It was almost like they were cuddling. She tensed at the thought.
Sean stirred, opening his eyes slowly. He squinted eyes at the light and reached out to grab his phone at the bedside table with his other arm that wasn't holding Kaycee. Aware of him being awake and still not removing his arm Kaycee pretended to be asleep closing her eyes and trying not to move to avoid this awkward situation.
Sean checked on the time and notifications before putting his phone back. Apparently it was past noon. He adjusted himself on the bed, and stroking her arm softly, relived at the presence of the girl still in his arm. Kaycee was struggling to be still as she felt her stomach doing a flip at his action.
