It may have been selfish, but after I died, I didn't concern myself much with the battle. It turns out Tanjiro and the others got into some trouble, especially after Muzan tried to take over Tanjiro as a new vessel. I wasn't even sure that taking over someone's body was an ability Muzan had, but I suppose when you fear death that much anything is possible. While I may not have concerned myself, the other Hashira and my oh so lovely husband were watching by the edge of their seats. I however had other plans, I went to watch over my babies.

Daiki and Rei, it seems that Tengen had found them because I could see him. Tengen and his wives were protecting the new Master. Rei was sleeping, curled up in her brother's lap, but Daiki, he was awake and alert, sitting at position. Suma tried to consol him to tell him to go to bed, Hina and Makio did too, but Daiki wouldn't listen.

D: I have to stay awake. I have to protect Rei. I have to protect her until Mom gets back.

S: Daiki, your Mom wouldn't want you to be tired.

H: Suma is right, Daiki. You need to rest.

D: No.

M: Daiki, Lord Tengen will protect us. Just go to bed.

D: Lord Tengen only has one arm. I will be his other one.

T: Suma, Makio, Hinahatsuru, let him be. He's doing his job.

H: But Lord Tengen, he's just a child.

D: I am not. Ms. Long Hair Tengen, I am the man of the house and it's my job to protect my sister when Mom's not around. I'm her big brother, not Mr. Tengen, me.

T: That's right and as the man he has to be completely aware.

D: Yeah!

T: Hey Daiki.

D: Yeah?

T: Why don't we take shifts?

D: Shifts?

T: Yeah, like turns. This way we don't get tired. You know you can't protect your sister completely if you're tired.

D: Oh. You're right.

T: Here, why don't you close your eyes first. I'll wake up when it's your turn.

D: Okay, but...if Mom comes home before my turn ends can you wake me up?

T: Yeah Kid...I can do that.

D: Promise?

T: I promise.

But that was a promise that never came. Watching Daiki slowly fall asleep broke my heart. It broke my heart that even in death I started to cry. I knew he couldn't hear me, but still, I muffled my tears so I wouldn't wake him. Daiki, my dear Daiki. After feeling a pair of arms wrap around me, I turned my body to cry into Kyojuro's chest. When I pulled away, he gave me a soft smile and wiped my tears.

R: You did a phenomenal job raising him.

"He thinks I'm coming home. How is Tengen going to tell him? And Rei...she's asleep. They're only children Kyojuro and they're all alone. I left them alone."

R: It's okay, my love. You did no such thing. Look at them. How many of our children do you count?

"Two."

R: That's right. There are two of them, which means that they will never be alone. They have each other. You did what you could do my love. It was your time, someday they will come to understand that, especially now that Kitbusjui has been eradicated from the world.

"So it's over."

R: Yes, Tanjiro and his friends did it.

"I never had a doubt that they would." What I did doubt was that Tengen would be okay with telling Daiki. Tengen was no stranger to death, but he was a stranger to a child's tears. He never liked seeing Daiki or Reí cry, so oftentimes, when they would, Tengen would cave and give them whatever it was they were asking for.
