"Yet another failure, Prometheus was such a waste, he could've destroyed the 3rd Sea if not for Theos' disciple interfering, I'm regretting keeping them alive now. Despite this setback, I still learned a few things."
"Apparently, even mutations can still become something more, they can still evolve. I'll have to figure out how to force that some other time. For now though, I still have to deal with my Cursebeard problem."
"Every skirmish I've had with him always ends in a stalemate, I'll need some extra firepower if I want him gone." Durza said to no one in particular, not that anyone would overhear his plans anyway.
"Fortunately, one of my forms have discovered something halfway across the globe, Zeus' corpse. It will take some time to transport it back here in the 7th sea, but I have all the time in the world to wait" Durza said.
The next few months were quite uneventful for Durza, he had a few more fights with Cursebeard, all of them ending in a stalemate.
Theos' disciple was nowhere to be found, he had lost track of them after Theos prevented the Promethean Storm, which was the attack that Prometheus was charging up before Theos stopped him.
But he did find a memorial built at a nearby hill with a nice view of the sunset, he had enough respect for the old man to not destroy their grave.
The rest of the world may see Durza as evil, but in his eyes, he is not. Power-hungry, definetly, but he was not cruel, nor did he find pleasure in the suffering of others, in fact he hates seeing people suffer, and he tries to relieve them of their pain, but he does it in an unethical way, death.
The curse made him literally unable to make morally good decisions, which is far worse than any other curse which simply makes morally good decisions much less tempting, he had no idea why that was the case but eventually settled on the fact that it was a powerful curse, so of course the side effects are worse, right?
He decided not to dwell on the fact because Zeus' corpse was close to the 7th sea, he needed to prepare. Powerful beings like gods require far more preparation and time to resurrect than a normal human, he estimated that the time it would take to complete the process would be around 3 months.
Now, he had figured out the name and whereabouts of Theos' disciple, Jackdaw, like the avian. Jackdaw was currently in Angel's sailboat, the Bermuda Locket, along with Theos' staff, apparently Theos' staff aka Apotheosis, had some sentience within itself and some of The War Phoenix's power as he saw it create a Phoenix flame earlier, but enough about that.
He assumed they were on their way to the 4th sea, aka mainland. Mainland was one of the few large landmasses left, having around the length of 10km with a width of 8km, it was a mere estimate though.
A week later and Zeus' corpse finally arrives. Due to how powerful Zeus is, it will take a large percentage of his magic energy to start the process, fortunately it will sustain itself until the process is complete, so no upkeep is needed, but it will take 3 months.
Instead of just casting a magic circle, he needs to carve one into the floor using a special kind of metal called Arcanium, Arcanium is a metal used in all things that channel magic energy, including weapons, armor and accessories.
Durza begin the process, he places Zeus' corpse in the center of the circle and began channelling magic into the magic circle, a few minutes later and the revival had begun and he need only to wait.
Another one of Durza's forms was in Mainland observing Jackdaw, Apotheosis, and Angel, they walk into a bar where they found Averill, a powerful light magic user who owned a mighty frigate called "The Shining King". Durza couldn't hear their conversation but he could tell they have met before.
He heard pieces of their conversation, hearing words like "Arcane Government", "Outpost", "Revenge" and he heard a familiar sounding name, "Captain Spade". He heard about him before, supposedly very corrupt and a high ranking member of the Arcane Government, Durza had a hypothesis on what Spade may have done to Averill.
A few years earlier, Spade was a decent AG officer, not corrupt but still powerful, and he led a powerful ship, and he defeated and imprisoned many pirate crews, which included Averill's old crew when he still didn't have his own. Until Spade's ship was sunk in battle, and he fell into depression, up until now he is currently stationed at an outpost northeast to Mainland.
He also heard another name, "Scourge", Scourge was a clan which was more like a cult who had an extreme hate for curses and curse users, they actively hunt down curse users but they do not kill them, that will simply release the curse for someone else to take, instead they imprison them in magic-proof cells and are to be locked up forever, but Durza did not fear them, he had no reason to, compared to the AG or him, they were nothing.
A few minutes later and Averill, Jackdaw, and Angel exit the bar presumably to go to Spade's outpost. Durza followed them as much as he could until they boarded Angel's sailboat and he could no longer follow.
He watched from a distance as a battle began, he saw a blue barrier coafing the main building where Spade would be. He kept observing as solar flare-like attacks were being casted into the sky, Spade's magic was called Flare Magic, it was basically solar flares but not as hot.
Eventually, Spade used a powerful spell and destroyed the floor, revealing what seems to be an abandoned mine, Averill, Jackdaw and Angel jumped down the hole and were shocked to see what was down there, "It was here all along....
The Light Curse."
