A/N: WOAH may readers pala ako 😭 hahaha or baka reads ko lang ang 90% diyan chareng. Anyways, kung sino man nag-enjoy sa first part, thanks for reading po! Here's a token of gratitude!
Leni's stint in Harvard came to an end a week ago. She is now staying at her condo in Quezon City, taking a break after rigorous day-to-day schedules and paperworks she had to comply while she was still in Boston. She is now thankful that she can finally enjoy a healthy life.
Or so she thought.
Her eyes fluttered open, and she faintly remembers her oldest bidding goodbye to her before the latter went to work. Her Angat Buhay family insisted that today is her off day, although she initially refused their offer. Her workmates reminded her that she had been personally checking non-stop on Angat Buhay as soon as she landed in the Philippines. It seemed like she was not having a break from work even when she is no longer a hauser leader. So, they conspired together in forcing Leni to give her work for the NGO to her assistants, even just for today. In the end, she had no choice but to follow their wish since 1) they felt strongly about it; and 2) it was only little work left that she's sure would not be heavy of a burden to her assistants.
Plus, she has been feeling that her vertigo is coming back. One time, she closed her eyes shut while she was in a meeting with the Angat Buhay board. While everyone was busy asking questions during the open forum, she massaged her forehead using her right hand, while the other was holding the document she was reading at the same time. She then felt a light pat on her shoulder and when she looked in her right, she was met with Kit's worried eyes.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yup. Headache lang." tipid niyang sagot.
It was not true though; she was feeling nauseous. She felt cold yet sweat trickled from her forehead down to her cheeks. But for Kit to stop worrying about her, she needed to lie.
But she couldn't take what she's feeling anymore.
"Kit, CR lang ako ha?" she did not wait for Kit's nod or reply as she stormed off to go to the floor's comfort room, which is a few meters away from the mini-conference hall the Angat Buhay executives were conducting their on-going meeting.
She pushed the door of one of the cubicles and vomitted. A few minutes passed, she tied her hair and wiped the sweat off her her face before going out of the cubicle. After making sure she looked fine, she went out of the comfort room only to find a man crossing his arms over his chest and leaning on the wall.
"Oh? Kit? Tapos na yung meeting?", she asked.
"You're not okay." he replied grimly instead, dodging the question.
Leni was taken aback when the man in front of him walked towards her quickly. Agad siyang umatras sa kaba.
"A-anong ginagawa mo? Kit--" he held her arm to prevent her from stepping backwards and touched her forehead to check if she was having a fever.
"Hindi ka naman nilalagnat..." he trailed off.
"Vertigo lang," tipid na sagot ni Leni, not getting over the fact that she thought something was about to happen a few seconds ago.
Akala ko hahalikan ako.
A blush spread on her cheeks and, thankfully, half of her face was covered with a mask so he did not notice it.
A look of concern reflected in Kit's eyes at napatikhim nalang si Leni habang iniiwasan niyang tumitig sa mga mata nito.
"You don't want to be taken to the hospital, 'di ba? Do you... wanna call Tricia?" Leni chuckled upon hearing his reply. He really knows me.
